Beware of E-mail and Phone Phishing Scams The University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union would like to warn all University faculty, staff and students about phishing. Visit their website for information about protecting yourself from phishing. Some credit card holders have been receiving calls from an automated voicemail that states the cardholder's name and that they need to call a toll-free number to verify transactions on their credit card. When the cardholder calls the number, they are asked for the 3 digits off the back of their card to "verify their identity." Some of our members have also received similar calls from real people. If you receive a call like this do not respond. Instead call the credit union directly at 472-2087 to be sure that it is a legitimate call. If you have already responded to a similar call, call the credit union immediately so that we may take steps to protect your account. If they are not open when you try to call then contact your credit card company (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) directly by using the phone number on your statement. http://www.nufcu.org ************************************************************************* 6.
