 1. NSave Backup/Restore Service

Do you have a backup program in place to backup your important data files?
If your computer had a hard drive crash or virus would you be able to recover
your data?  Information Services offers a backup/restore service called NSave
for a small monthly fee. The software is installed on the desktop and the
backup/restores are done over a network connection. For more information

 2. Transportation Services Fuel Surcharge

Due to the increased cost of fuel, effective May 1, Transportation
Services will implement a rental vehicle variable rate fuel surcharge.
The fuel surcharge will vary from $.01 to $.05 per mile,  and is dependent
on the vehicle class fuel efficiency or type of vehicle use. Based on the
July 1, 2006 cost of fuel mileage rate increases in the range of $.01 to
$.07 can be expected. For additional information contact Transportation

 3. Southwest Airline Direct Ticket Purchases

UNL Travel Services has designed a website where employees can self register
for access to the Southwest Airlines website to directly purchase airfare
tickets. This site employs the same Southwest Airline screens as for leisure
travel, no transaction fees are charged, the University ghost credit card is
available for payment of business related air trips, and Airfare Situation
Reports will no longer be needed to purchase from the Southwest Airlines site.

 4. 2006 Faculty and Staff Football Season Ticket Application

Faculty/Staff applications are now available at www.Huskers.com by
clicking on Tickets and then Faculty/Staff Season Football Application.
You may also pick up an application at the Athletic Ticket Office at
625 Stadium Drive, Suite E. Applications must be turned in by 5 p.m.
on May 19.

 5. Call for Abstracts - 51st Annual Midwest Ground Water Conference

Abstracts for both oral and poster sessions are being accepted for the
51st Annual Midwest Ground Water Conference in Lincoln on Nov. 6-9, 2006
hosted by the School of Natural Resources, Conservation and Survey
Division. Visit the web site for on-line abstract submissions and conference
information. The abstract submission deadline is June 1. Notification of
acceptance is July 1.

 6. Retirement Reception for Sharon Wieker

A retirement reception will be held for Sharon Wieker from 3:30 to 5
p.m. on Thursday, May 25 at the University of Nebraska State Museum,
Morrill Hall, in honor of her 23 years of service to UNL. Wieker is
executive assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Research.

 7. Zambian Vice Chancellor Speaks on May 18

Robert Serpell, vice chancellor of the University of Zambia, will
present a lecture at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 18 in the Kauffman
Center Great Room. Serpell and five other officials from the University
of Zambia are on campus this week to explore opportunities to expand
collaborations between UNL and UNZA. Serpell is considered to be a leading
researcher on issues of education in a variety of cultures. The lecture
is free, open to the public, and a reception will follow. For more

 9. Antelope Valley Project tours in June

A tremendous amount of progress has been made on the Antelope Valley project
along the east side of campus. Public bus tours are scheduled for 9 a.m. and
11 a.m. June 10 departing from Lincoln High School. A bike tour is scheduled
that same day for 8 a.m., also departing from Lincoln High School. On June 15
bus and bike tours are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. departing from Lincoln
High School. Please RSVP your attendance to Joyce at 458-5901.

10. New Signature Authority - Purchasing Training Sessions

UNL Departments will be able to purchase most items up to $24,999
without Purchasing Department involvement beginning July 1, 2006.
Purchasing will conduct training sessions in May and June to cover the
fundamentals of procurement, provide business forms and helpful tips.
Department staff involved with procurement activities are strongly
encouraged to attend this training. Sessions will be held from 9:30 to
11 a.m. on May 24 in the Nebraska Union; 9:30 to 11 a.m. May 25 in the
East Union; 9:30 to 11 a.m. June 13 in the Nebraska Union and again
1:30 to 3:30 p.m. that day in the East Union. To register for one of

16. Hergert Trial, Rural Economy on NET Television's "Statewide"

This week NET Television's "Statewide" has coverage of the state Supreme
Court impeachment trial of NU regent David Hergert. Plus a look at the rural
economy through a survey of small town bankers, a roundtable discussion of
election issues, the story of a young rural poet and a visit to the Franklin
County museum. "Statewide" airs Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.
