 2. Big 12 Faculty Fellowships

The Big 12 Faculty Fellowship Program is intended to stimulate
scholarly exchanges with Big 12 institutions. The program offers
faculty the opportunity to travel to member institutions to collaborate
on projects and research. Deadline for submitting proposals is June 1,
2006. The maximum fellowship award per applicant is $2,500.

 3. 2006 UNL Service Award Selection Deadline is May 12

2006 UNL Service Award recipients who have been notified of the
service awards process, have until May 12 to make a selection
online. The 2006 recipients may access the UNL Human Resources
website at the address below to view award options and to make
online selection. Note that all award selections will be made online.
If they do not receive your selection by May 12, a traditional
service pin will be ordered on your behalf. If you need assistance

The University Health Center will begin the following summer
hours on Monday, May 8: * 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday;

 6. Transportation Services Fuel Surcharge

Due to the increased cost of fuel, effective May 1, Transportation
Services will implement a rental vehicle variable rate fuel
surcharge. The fuel surcharge will vary from $.01 to $.05 per mile,
and is dependent on the vehicle class fuel efficiency or type of
vehicle use. Based on the cost of fuel as of July 1, 2006, mileage
rate increases in the range of $.01 to $.07 can be expected. For

11. Astronomy Day 2006 at Morrill Hall / Mueller Planetarium

Astronomy fun for all ages at Astronomy Day 2006 from 9:30 a.m to
4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6 at Morrill Hall/Mueller Planetarium. The
event will include hands-on activities, demos, displays, giveaways and
Planetarium shows. Topics include Mars, flight sim, rocket launches,

12. "Nitescapes 3-D Aurora and Comets" Astrophotography Program

Astrophotographer Bryan R. White will present a special audio/visual
program at Morrill Hall on Astronomy Day, Saturday, May 6. It will
feature color 3-D images of comets and Aurora Borealis with narration
and music. Show times are 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Admission
includes museum activities: Free w/UNL ID. General: $8 family, $4 adult,

13. Tractor Museum Open House, New Exhibits, Faculty Tractor Drivers

The Tractor Museum Open House will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday, May 6 on UNL's East Campus. NU Land of Opportunity Perspective
and Museum of Agriculture Technology exhibit openings. Tractor Test Lab
test cars, UNL 1/4 scale tractors will be on display with a 550hp tractor.

14. UAAD Hosts Annual Year-End Cook Out at Sheldon May 10

UAAD will host its annual year-end cook out from 11:45 a.m. to
1 p.m. May 10 at Sheldon Gallery Sculpture Garden, South side.
Grilled hotdogs and trimmings courtesy of UAAD. President Marilyn
Fenton will introduce the new officers. Sheldon director Jan
Driesbach will lead a tour of Sheldon.

Information Services-Communications and Alltel Publishing will hold
two informational sessions on campus to discuss directory advertising
opportunities. The first session will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday,
May 8 at the Nebraska Union, and the second from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
