All lectures will be at 7 p.m. in the Lied Center for Performing Arts, 12th and

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Czech language program is celebrating
100 years. The Czech Republic is sending six Senators to help celebrate this
occasion. If you are a former Czech student at UNL or you know of someone who
studied Czech at UNL at any time during the 100 years it was offered, send your

UNL Summer Sessions is seeking proposals for new summer sessions courses

21. Journalism students at Lee Booksellers this Friday

Join Lee Booksellers (5500 S. 56th St.) at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 for a
student-panel discussion of select stories from "Renovating the Republic,"
a news magazine produced by the College of Journalism and Mass
Communications. For the past year, a group of journalism students examined
two events - 9/11 and the tearing down of the Berlin Wall on 9/11/1989 -
that cast light on the complex relationship Germany has had with the United
States, and in particular, the Cornhusker state. This project is one of a
series produced by students in the UNL CoJMC to develop the cross-cultural
communication professionals of the future.

33. Fulldome shows continue at Mueller Planetarium through end of '07

Fulldome shows using the new immersive digital projection format at the
Mueller Planetarium (inside Morrill Hall 14th and U St) will continue on
Saturdays and Sundays through the end of the year. The cost is $5 for
college students, UNL faculty and staff. "Secret of the Cardboard Rocket,"
a fun family-friendly show about two children who take off in an imaginary
rocket to explore the solar system, will play at 1 p.m. on Saturdays, and
2 p.m. on Sundays. "Origins of Life," (which takes audiences on a journey
through Earth history and the development of life, scenes of the Earth
forming and whales swimming), will play at 2 and 3 p.m. on Saturdays, and
3 p.m. on Sundays. There are no shows on home football Saturdays, Sept. 1,
15, 22 and 29, Oct. 13 and 20, and Nov. 10.

34. College Night at Sheldon Sept. 14

The Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery welcomes all students and faculty to its
first College Night of the season from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 14. The museum

This month's First Friday reception welcomes a new exhibition, Daily Rituals,
Seasonal Celebrations: Photographs by Graciela Iturbide to the Sheldon

by one of Mexico's outstanding photographers provides a glimpse into the

37. Sunday at Sheldon: New Acquisition - Barcelona White Bar

Sheldon Director Jan Driesbach speaks about Barcelona White Bar, a recent
acquisition by artist Sean Scully, at 2 p.m. Setp. 9. Immediately after
its purchase, this significant new addition to the Sheldon collection traveled
with a retrospective exhibition of the artist's work to Fort Worth, Cincinnati
and New York. It returned to the Sheldon this summer.

musical, the Irish romance Once features Glen Hansard (frontman for

music (he is a guitarist, and she plays the piano).
