 1. University Employee Benefits Enrollment (NUFlex)
The annual University Employee Benefits Enrollment (NUFlex) period will run
Nov. 19 through Dec. 7, with changes going into effect on Jan. 1, 2008.
This is a time when employees may make changes in their benefits program to
meet their personal needs, sign up for the Health Care Reimbursement account,
and complete the non smoker discount form. This year all employee benefits may
be added, changed or deleted depending on the employee's requirements. Review
your current Benefits programs to see if any adjustments will be necessary. If
you have questions about the annual enrollment, contact the Benefits Office at
472-2600. You will be able to complete your NUFlex annual enrollment
electronically through Employee Self Service at the Web site listed below. This
on-line enrollment is fast and convenient and may be used in place of your
NUFlex Change and Smoker Designation forms. If you have any problems accessing
Employee Self Service, contact Beth Benson at 472-2100.
Paper forms must be turned in to the Benefits Office by 5 p.m. on Dec. 7.
ESS will accept changes until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 7.

 2. Holiday Mail Collection and Delivery
Mail and Distribution Services will be open Dec. 27 and 28 until 11 a.m.
Mail will be delivered on Dec. 28 between 8 and 11 a.m. to some City and
East Campus locations. The list of those locations can be found on the
Web site listed below. Faculty and staff in buildings with no mail
service can pick up mail at 1100 North 17th Street, West Dock, from 7:30
to 11 a.m. on Dec. 27 and 28. A University ID card must be presented.
Off-campus mail, excluding single-piece mail, will be processed during the
holiday closedown by prior arrangement only. Regular campus mail service
will resume Jan. 2. If you have any questions concerning this schedule,
call Karen Ouellette at 472-2533 or Ken Reining at 472-7029.

The deadline for the We the People Challenge Grants in United States
History, Institutions and Culture is Feb. 5, 2008. Only one application
may be submitted at the We the People Challenge Grants deadline.
Application at that deadline does not preclude submitting a different
proposal for a regular challenge grant at the appropriate deadline
(May 1, 2008). If you are interested in developing a proposal, complete

14. Free Screening for Lead in Toys
UNL Extension in Lancaster County will conduct free lead screening
of children's toys and jewelry from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 11 at the
Lancaster Extension Education Center, 444 Cherrycreek Road in Lincoln.
Parents may bring up to five toys per household to be tested for lead.
