 3. Deadline for nominations extended for Oldt and Donaldson Awards

Nominations are still being accepted for the 2007 Carl A. Donaldson Award
for Excellence in Management and the Floyd S. Oldt Award for Exceptional
Service to the University until Feb. 9. These awards are presented annually
to managerial/professional staff at the UAAD Annual Founder's Day meeting
on Feb. 28. The award recipients each receive a plaque, a $1,000 stipend
and a one-year membership to UAAD. Nomination criteria and requirements

 4. UNL Research Council-February Application Deadline

The UNL Research Council would like to remind faculty that the second

 5. Credit Union Adds More Free ATMs

The University of Nebraska Federal Credit Union has teamed up with three
more Nebraska credit unions to expand their ATM network to include five
new free ATMs for their members. Four of the new ATMs are in Lincoln and
one is in Kearney. They are also in the process of putting an ATM in
Love Library. It will be ready to use sometime in the next few weeks.

 6. Three Billion New Capitalists -- E.N. Thompson Forum, Feb. 8

The E.N. Thompson Forum presents the fourth lecture in it 2006-2007 series
at 7 p.m. on Feb. 8 at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts. Clyde V.
Prestowitz, Jr., founder and president of the Economic Strategy Institute,
will give the Lewis E. Harris Lecture on Public Policy.
Dr. Wes Peterson, professor of Agricultural Economics will give a pre-talk
beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Lied Center.
On Feb. 11 at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, 1144 M St., Lincoln, Dr.
Patrice McMahon will facilitate a follow-up discussion beginning at 7 p.m.

 7. Lynn Brewer, Enron Whistler Blower to speak at Lied Feb. 12

Lynn Brewer will speak at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Lied Center. She will
discuss her personal insight into the Enron scandal, her decision to
blow the whistle, and her fateful meeting with Ken Lay, just two weeks

12. Czech Folk Dance Group Started

Czech dancing is on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 6:30 to
8 p.m. starting Feb. 6 in the Nebraska Union. They will start with Beseda
followed by other dances. This is the first step toward forming Lincoln's
Czech Cultural Arts Group where people can learn the cultural

36. "Comic Art" on view at Sheldon Feb. 6 through April 29

"Comic Art" explores the place that comic art occupies in American culture
and in the high art world today. Chris Ware, a noted contemporary comic
artist, has written an essay available in the exhibition's gallery guide.
A coinciding show, "Chris Ware," opens Feb. 16 and the artist will be
speaking at 5:30 p.m. in Sheldon's auditorium on that date.

37. Film producer to appear at The Ross

Executive producer Chris Donohue will be at The Mary Riepma Ross Media
Arts Center at 7 p.m. Feb. 22 to introduce his documentary, "Be Good, 
Smile Pretty," and hold a question and answer session about the film.
The movie is one woman's search for the father she lost in Vietnam when
she was three month's old. Lt. Donald Glenn Droz was 25 when he was killed
in an ambush in the Mekong Delta that destroyed a Navy swift boat and killed
five other soldiers. Donohue received an Emmy Award and the Jury Prize for
Best Documentary at the 2003 IFP Los Angeles Independent Film Festival.

Musical Theatre Showcase will present "Those Early Days," a revue of
