 2. Snow closing information

When the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is closed due to winter weather,
the University Operator will provide this information to anyone that calls
into the University's main number, 472-7211. Make sure you notify the
Operator if your office decides to open.

 3. Flu Shots Still Available at UHC

Flu shots are available at the University Health Center (UHC) by appointment
only. Unless you have Blue Cross/Blue Shield, payment of $20 is due at the

 4. Outstanding Contributions to Status of Women Nominations Sought

The UNL Chancellor's Commission on the Status of Women seeks nominations for
the Chancellor's Awards for Outstanding Contributions to the Status of Women.
These awards recognize outstanding faculty, staff and student efforts to create
a climate that encourages women to succeed at the University of
Nebraska-Lincoln. The award recipients may be individuals, departments or
organizations. Nomination forms and information are available at the URL below.
All nominations are due by Feb. 5.

 5. Faculty fellowship call for proposals

The Center for Digital Research in the Humanities has posted a call for
proposals for 2007/08 faculty fellowships. Up to three fellowships in the
humanities will be awarded, with awards ranging from $5,000 to $15,000.

 9. Lynn Brewer, Enron whistleblower, to speak at Lied Center

Lynn Brewer will discuss her personal insight into the Enron scandal, her
decision to blow the whistle, and her fateful meeting with Ken Lay, just
two weeks before his death, at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Lied Center.

10. Malaysian Night 2007

This year's Malaysian Night, entitled "You Thought You Knew ...", will
be held on March 24. Tickets will be sold from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 29

17. Support Group for Adult Children with Aging Parents (ACAP)

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is facilitating a support group for adult
children with aging parents. The support group is designed to provide an
opportunity for participants to gain information, understanding, and support
from others experiencing similar situations concerning aging parents. The 
group's next meeting is from noon to 1 p.m. Jan. 25 at the  Nebraska Union

18. Conversation Partners Program Participants Needed

The Conversation Partners Program, designed to support a student's
learning and/or educational experience at UNL, matches U.S. and
international students who have shared a common interest in gaining a

24. "The Architect's Brother" on view at Sheldon through April 1

"The Architect's Brother," a new exhibition at Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery,
features 42 large-scale photographic images by Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison.
The exhibition considers the state, and possible fate, of the Earth's
environment. The images focus on a single protagonist taking up ironic and
often futile tasks of preserving or renewing spent and abandoned landscapes.
Admission is free.

26. School of Music Events Jan. 23-29

* Jan. 25, 7:30 p.m., faculty artist Christopher Marks, organ, will give a
recital in Kimball Recital Hall. 
* Jan. 28, 3 p.m., faculty artist Craig Fuller, tuba, will give a recital in
Kimball Recital Hall. Faculty artist Nicole Narboni, piano, and the UNL
Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble will join Fuller in this performance.
* Jan. 29, 7:30 p.m., the School of Music will present the third annual
Celebration of American Song. The American composer, Richard Rodgers will be
celebrated in an evening of song performed by the School of Music's voice faculty:
Alisa Belflower, Kate Butler, Ariel Bybee, Kevin Hanrahan, Donna Harler-Smith,
William Shomos and Therees Hibbard. Also performing will be UNL's advanced vocal
students and returning alumni. Jack Oliva, dean of the Hixson-Lied College of
Fine and Performing Arts, will serve as accompanist.
Tickets for these events are $5 general admission, $3 student/senior, and will
be available at the door approximately one hour before the performance.
