 1. Research Fair Request For Information

The Office of Research and Graduate Studies is collecting information for
the 2006 Major Sponsored Program and Faculty Awards for Creative Activity
booklet that is printed for the annual Research Fair. Their goal is to
recognize as many of these faculty accomplishments as possible, so submit
your accomplishments by Jan. 31 via the Research Fair website listed below.

 2. 2007 NU Technology Day Proposal Deadline

The 2007 NU Technology Day will be held March 14 at University of
Nebraska Omaha Alumni Center in Omaha. The deadline for proposal
submission is Jan. 31. To submit a presentation proposal and registration

 3. Meetings with Federal Funding Agencies

The Office of Research is launching an initiative to pursue funding
opportunities at several federal agencies. In February they will hold
informational meetings for faculty interested in pursuing funding at
NASA and the Department of Energy. Their goal is to enhance their
ability to compete for funding at these agencies by identifying UNL
research strengths and targeting their efforts where they will be most
effective. Networking serves a dual purpose: faculty have the opportunity
to meet with personnel at the agencies who are funding research and they
have the opportunity to educate the agencies about the top-notch research

37. NET Television's Special on Joel Sartore Airs Nationally on PBS

On the job, National Geographic Magazine photographer Joel Sartore has
been chased by bears, wolves, alligators and musk oxen. He shoots in some
of the most exotic locales on earth, but often in wretched conditions for
