 1. Increase in Federal Minimum Wage

In line with the increase in Federal Minimum Wage, all UNL employees
already in the payroll system who are currently below the new rate of
$5.85 per hour will be adjusted automatically effective July 24, 2007 to

 2. Emergency Steam Outage on City Campus

An emergency steam outage has been scheduled for City Campus only from
midnight Sunday, July 29 to midnight Monday, July 30. City Campus
buildings may be without domestic hot water, building temperature and
humidity control may be affected slightly, and process steam will not be

 3. Request for Proposals issued for UNL Energy Research Grants

The Nebraska Center for Energy Sciences Research (NCESR) is holding its
Second Annual Request for Proposals (RFP) for Energy Research Grants. The
deadline to submit the "Intent to Submit Proposal" (required) is Aug. 3.
The deadline to "Submit Proposal Documents" is Sept. 7. The new RFP is
available on the NCESR website.

 4. ILLiad Maintenance on July 25

From 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on July 25 the Libraries' ILLiad request
server will be down for needed maintenance. During this hour period,
on-line Interlibrary Loan requests will be unavailable.

Introduction workshops for Blackboard are free for all faculty and

 6. Support Group for Adult Children with Aging Parents (ACAP)

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is facilitating a support group for
adult children with aging parents. The support group is designed to
provide an opportunity for participants to gain information,
understanding, and support from others experiencing similar situations
concerning aging parents. The group's next meeting is from noon to 1 p.m.
July 26 at the Nebraska Union (room to be posted). The meeting and
participation in this support group is open to all interested faculty and
staff. For further details contact EAP at 472-3107.

 7. Retirement Reception for Jim Emal

The University community and friends are invited to attend a retirement
reception honoring Jim Emal on Friday, July 27 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the 
East Campus Union-Great Plains Room. Jim's University employment began in 1972 
as the Extension Agent Chair in Saline County, however his IT interests and 
talents led to his appointment as UNL's first Extension Microcomputer Specialist
in 1982. He became a tenured professor in 1989 and, as of 2000, has been serving
as the Director of Strategic Technologies for Computing Services Network (UNCSN).

 8. Retirement Reception for Art McWilliams

We would like to invite the University community to a retirement reception
honoring Art McWilliams for his 46 years of great service to the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln. The reception will be held Thursday, July 26th from
2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Selleck Dining Service Presidential Dining Room.

 9. H.S. All-Star Basketball and Volleyball Live on NET Television

From all corners of Nebraska, the best high school basketball and volleyball
players from the senior class of 2007 face-off respectively in a trio of annual
statewide competitions. All the action of the "Nebraska All-Star Girls and Boys
Basketball" and "Nebraska All-Star Volleyball" contests will be broadcast live
July 30 and 31 on NET1 Channel 12 and in high-definition on NET-HD. "Nebraska
All-Star Girls Basketball" airs at 6 p.m. July 30, followed by the "Nebraska
All-Star Boys Basketball" contest at 8 p.m. "Nebraska All-Star Volleyball" will
air at 7 p.m. on July 31.

10. Shrine Football Classic Airs Live on NET Television

"Shrine Football Classic," with the best Nebraska high school football
players from the senior class of 2007, will be broadcast live at 6:30
p.m. July 28 on NET1 Channel 12 and in high-definition on NET-HD.

11. Cornhusker Summer Music Games - DCI July 25

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Music and Drum Corps
International will present Cornhusker Summer Music Games at 7:30 p.m.
July 25 in Memorial Stadium. Performing corps include The Academy,
Blue Stars, The Cadets, Phantom Regiment, Santa Clara Vanguard, and
Troopers. Ticket prices are $27, $22, and $27. Price includes sales tax.
Handling fees will be added to pre-ticket sales. All ticket sales final.

DISAPPEARANCES director Jay Craven will be appearing at screenings of his
films and Q&A sessions with the audiences on Friday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m.
with WHERE THE RIVERS FLOW NORTH and on Saturday, July 28 at 7:30 p.m.
with DISAPPEARANCES. Mr. Craven will also conduct a Movie Talk on
