 1. Monthly Tornado Systems Test

UNL will join Lincoln/Lancaster County Emergency Management in testing all
tornado-warning systems the first Wednesday of each month. The test will
occur at 10:15 a.m. June 6 and will last approximately 10 minutes. If you

 2. Parking Lot Closures Due to Maintenance

The following list of parking lots will be closed on the dates specified for
maintenance. Lot closing signs will be posted at the entrance of the lot
24-48 hours before the scheduled date of maintenance. If weather delays the
project a new date will be posted on the Parking and Transit Services 
website at the URL below.
* June 11 - Alexander North Area F12, patch surface.
* June 12 - Bancroft Area F2, patch surface. 
* June 13 and 14 - 14th & W Streets Area C, mill & patch surface crack seal.

 3. Mplus Statistical Software Purchasing

The SSP Core Facility will be placing a group order for Mplus software (a
discount is provided for group orders-the more licenses ordered-the bigger
the discount). If you are interested in purchasing Mplus, complete the

 4. Limited Submission - NSF Physics Frontiers Centers

NSF has announced a limited submission for Physics Frontiers Centers. The
deadline is Aug. 29. Preliminary proposals, required by Jan. 30, 2008; 
Full Proposal, by invitation only. No more than two preliminary proposals
may be submitted by any one institution. The same limitation applies
to full proposals. If you are interested in applying, contact Dr. Kimberly
Andrews Espy, Associate Vice Chancellor for Research, at 472-2851, no

 5. Limited Submission - NIH-Multiple Institutes

NIH has announced a limited submission for the NCMHD Community-Based
Participatory Research (CBPR) Initiative in Reducing and Eliminating
Health Disparities: Intervention Research Phase (R24). The letter of
intent receipt date is July 31. The application receipt date is Aug.
31. The limit is one proposal per institution. If you are interested
in applying, contact Dr. Kimberly Andrews Espy, Associate Vice Chancellor

Nebraska EPSCoR is requesting pre-proposals for the Department of Defense

 7. 2007 Jazz in June Garden Tours

All tours begin 6 p.m. on the east side of Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery.
This week's tour, June 5, will feature Amy Alderman and Michelle Dipple

Learn the skills to become a confident speaker, leader and listener. You

 9. NU Technology June Meeting

The NU Technology June meeting will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
on June 7 in the following locations: UNL TEAC, Room 202, UNL Ag

10. UNL Campus Recreation's Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament

UNL Campus Recreation is hosting the first ever Alumni and Friends Golf
Tournament to benefit the UNL Campus Recreation Student Support Fund. The
Student Support Fund (SSF) is used to help current student employees or
participants with special hardships or needs. Enter as a foursome with your
friends or as an individual and we will pair you up with golfers from your
era. The date is June 25 at Quarry Oaks Golf Course in Ashland. The $50
entry fee includes pin prizes, awards, lunch, cart, open range, and $5
towards the SSF. Entry deadline is June 18. For more info, contact Mark

11. Free Workshop - Get It Together: Organize Your Financial Records

Learn the benefits of getting organized, why some record keeping systems fail,
how to develop an efficient bill-pay system, what records to keep and for how
long, what to have handy in case of a natural disaster and more at "Get It
Together: Organize Your Financial Records." Chose from two sessions: June 19,
6 to 7:30 p.m. at the East Union, or June 20 from noon to 1 p.m. at the
Nebraska Union. This seminar is free and open to all University of Nebraska

The Food Processing Center is offering a one-day seminar for all individuals
interested in exploring the idea of starting a food manufacturing business.
The "From Recipe to Reality" seminar will be offered on Aug. 10.

14. Jazz in June Celebrates Sweet Sixteenth Year

The 16th annual Jazz in June summer concert series will begin at 7 p.m.
tonight, June 5 on the plaza west of Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery. The free
concert is open to the public and will feature Kendra Shank, internationally
acclaimed jazz vocalist. Prior to the concert, guests are invited to enjoy
food and fun at the Jazz in June Market, located at 12th and R.

15. Year of the Dog and Into Great Silence open Friday at the Ross

* Showing June 8-21. Year of the Dog: A warm and quirky comedy starring
Molly Shannon as a secretary whose life changes in unexpected ways
after her dog dies.

the head monastery of the reclusive Carthusian Order in France.
