 1. Parking Lot Closures Due to Maintenance

The following list of parking lots will be closed or partially closed on the
dates specified for maintenance. Lot closing signs will be posted at the
entrance of the lot  24-48 hours before the scheduled date of maintenance. If
weather delays the project a new date will be posted on the Parking and Transit
Services website at the URL below.
* June 4 - Westbrook Area F6, concrete work. Partial closing. Changes to
handicap striping will be posted later.
* June 5 - Lied Area A, patch north drive and crack seal. Lot will be closed.
* June 6 - Power Plant Area A/C, patch surface. Lot will be closed.
* June 7 - Memorial Mall Inside loop Area F3/C1, patch surface, crack 
seal. Lot will be closed.

 2. Need Statistical Help?

The Department of Statistics offers statistical assistance through its Help
Desk. The Help Desk is located on East Campus at 354 Hardin Hall North,

 3. Limited Submission - NSF Broadening Participation in STEM

NSF has announced a limited submission for the Alliances for Broadening
Participation in STEM. The deadlines are: June 25 (Letter of Intent, required,
AGEP); Aug. 23 (Full Proposal, AGEP); Oct. 12 (Full Proposal, LSAMP);
Oct. 12 (Education Research Projects). There is a limit of one proposal per
alliance.

 6. Grand Teton Backpacking and Camping Trip - UNL Outdoor Rec

Registration is open for UNL Outdoor Rec's adventure trip to Grand Teton
National Park, July 21-29. The trip will be hiking only - no climbing
required. UNL Outdoor Rec provides all essential backpacking/camping
gear, plus transportation, insurance, permits, and meals. Participants need
only to provide clothing, hiking footwear, and personal items/toiletries. The
trip is open to all UNL students, faculty/staff, and the general public. The
cost is $495 for UNL students and UNL Campus Rec members; $600 for guests and

 7. Lincoln City Golf Passport-UNL Campus Rec Centers

UNL Campus Rec and the Lincoln City Golf Courses have teamed up to offer the
Lincoln City Golf Passport. For an annual $10 fee, UNL students, faculty, and
staff can receive a 20 percent discount on daily green and cart fees at the
following golf courses: Ager Golf Course; Highlands Golf Club; Holmes Golf
Course; Mahoney Golf Course; and Pioneers Golf Course. Golf Passports can
only be be purchased at the Campus Rec Center and EC Activities Building.

 8. Arboretum Plant Sale June 9

A plant sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 9 on East Campus.
There will be native trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses from Nebraska
Statewide Arboretum. Portion of proceeds will be donated by NSA for a
memorial garden on the Virginia Tech Campus. A plant list is available

 9. 2007 Jazz in June Garden Tours

All tours begin 6 p.m. on the east side of Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery.
* June 5 - Amy Alderman and Michelle Dipple from Landscape Services will
give a tour of the wildflower plants in Cather Garden and Sheldon Sculpture
Garden.
* June 12 - Karen Janovy of Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery will highlight a
few of the sculptures in Sheldon's renowned outdoor collection.
* June 19 - Eileen Bergt, director of Landscape Services, will give a tour
of ornamental trees on campus.
* June 26 - Emily Casper, a landscape architect, and Andrea McGinn of Landscape
Services will give a tour of the planting project around the Osborne Athletic
Complex and Hawks Championship Center.

10. Planetarium Enters a New Era with Fulldome Digital Shows

'Origins of Life' will be shown at 3 p.m. Tusdays and Thursdays, and
at 2 and 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, from June 1 through Aug. 26.
'Secret of the Cardboard Rocket' will be shown at 2 p.m. on Tuesdays
through Thursdays, and at 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Mueller Planetarium is
located inside the University of Nebraska State Museum (Morrill Hall),
14th and U Streets. Show Tickets are $7 for adults, and $5 for children,
college students and faculty/staff.

11. Support Group for Adult Children with Aging Parents (ACAP)

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is facilitating a support group for adult
children with aging parents. The support group is designed to provide an
opportunity for participants to gain information, understanding, and support
from others experiencing similar situations concerning aging parents. The 
group's next meeting is from noon to 1 p.m. May 31 at the  Nebraska Union 
(room to be posted). The meeting and participation in this support group is open
to all interested faculty and staff. For further details contact EAP at

12. Summer Explorers Biology Class for 5th and 6th Graders

The Center for Instructional Innovation is offering a fun, hands-on, inquiry
based Biology class from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 18-22 at Manter Hall,
with a field trip to Pioneers Park. The cost is only $25 and registration

13. Sheldon Museum Store Annual Sale Underway

The Sheldon Museum Store will hold its annual pre-inventory sale, with up
to 75 percent off selected items, through June. Watch for in-store weekly
specials all month. The Sheldon Museum Store supports Sheldon Memorial
Art Gallery programs. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday,
and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
