 1. Dec. 26 Holiday
President Bush has declared Dec. 26 as a Federal Holiday. In observance
of this Federal Holiday, Governor Heineman has declared that all Nebraska
State Offices observe Dec. 26 as a State Holiday. Accordingly President
Milliken has authorized University of Nebraska employees who are eligible
for holiday leave be granted Dec. 26 as a day of "Administrative Leave."
Most UNL employees had planned to use a floating holiday for Dec. 26 and
take Dec. 31 as a day of vacation. Due to this additional Federal Holiday,
UNL will post an administrative leave day for Dec. 26 and move the floating
holiday to Dec. 31 so employees do not need to take a vacation day for that
day of the UNL holiday closedown. For further information, contact the
Department of Human Resources at 472-3101 or hroffice2@unl.edu. Detailed
information on payroll processing for holiday closedown is available online
at the Web site listed below.

 2. City Campus Chilled Water Outage Jan. 5-9
A City Campus Chilled Water Outage is tentatively planned to occur Jan. 5 to
Jan. 9. These dates were selected to coincide with a low level of student
activity on the campus. The outage is necessary to perform maintenance at the
City Campus Utility Plant that is not possible during normal operations. During
this Chilled Water Outage, there will be no chilled water for equipment cooling
or air-conditioning. Building air-conditioning will continue to be provided
using cold outside air. If warm days occur during this outage, interior
building temperatures may be elevated. Contact Charlie Griesen at 472-8612 or
cgriesen@unlnotes.unl.edu if you have any questions or concerns.
