 5. Dance Marathon Volunteer Registration
Dance Marathon is a UNL organization that raises money for the Children's
Hospital. They have over 600 dancers in the Nebraska Union and they need
volunteers for the event. Volunteers work a three-hour shift between
5 p.m. on Feb 22 and 11 a.m. on Feb 23. Visit their Web site to fill out

 6. Call for Applications - CCSW
The Chancellor's Commission on the Status of Women (CCSW) is now seeking
Office/Service and Managerial/Professional Staff applications. The purpose
of the CCSW is to enhance the status of women at UNL, by advising the
Chancellor on issues pertaining to gender equity and on specific concerns
of women faculty, staff and students at the University. Recent issues
include UNL's daycare and family friendly policies for faculty and staff.
Each Council meets monthly to work on projects related to the needs of
women and to develop recommendations for the Chancellor. They meet with
the Chancellor each semester to establish mutual goals and to discuss
progress toward those goals. Membership on the Commission requires a time
commitment of approximately one hour per week, with occasional projects
that require more time. Submit applications and supporting materials to

 8. UAAD Seeking Nominations for Donaldson and Oldt Awards
UAAD is accepting nominations for the 2008 Carl A. Donaldson Award for
Excellence in Management and the Floyd S. Oldt Award for Exceptional
Service to the University. Nominees are Management (non-faculty) staff,
but need not be UAAD members. These awards will be presented at the UAAD
Annual Founder's Day program on Feb. 26. All nomination materials are

 9. UNL EITC Super Site
It's tax time. Come serve at UNL's Free Tax Preparation Days by providing
childcare, serving as an interpreter, and or greeting low-income working
families. Sessions will be held Jan. 26 through Feb. 10 (East Union) and
from Feb. 24 through March 2 (Nebraska Union). Monday through Thursday
hours are 5 to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday hours are from 1 to 5 p.m.

Limited Submission - National Endowment for the Arts - FY 2009 Grants
for Arts Projects. Deadlines for Access to Artistic Excellence are
March 10 and Aug. 11; deadline for Learning in the Arts for Children and

limited to one per organization (either for Access to Artistic Excellence

Limited Submission - NSF Chemistry Research Instrumentation and
Facilities: Departmental Multi-User Instrumentation. The deadline is
June 23, the 4th Monday in June annually thereafter. Two entries per

cyberinfrastructure. Principal investigators are strongly encouraged

12. WGS Karen Dunning Scholarly Paper/Creative Activity Award
Each spring, the Women's and Gender Studies Program sponsors the Karen
Dunning Award. Awards of at least $200 each will be presented to two
undergraduate students and two graduate students on the basis of
relevance to Women's and Gender Studies, quality of the work, originality,

21. 'Dinosaurs and Disasters' Feb. 2 at NU State Museum
A Fun Day of Science at Morrill Hall, this year highlighting ANDRILL and
the International Polar Year program. There will be learning stations
with games, activities and demonstrations led by Department of
Geosciences and State Museum scientists. Topics include: global climate
change, fossils, geology, natural disasters, plus planetarium shows.
Bring a rock or fossil for identification. The event is free with UNL
faculty/staff/student ID; $10 for a family; $5 for an adult; and $3
