 1. Parking Lot Closures Due to Maintenance
The following list of parking lots will be closed or partially closed on the
dates specified for maintenance. Lot closing signs will be posted at the
entrance of the lot 24-48 hours before the scheduled date of maintenance. If
weather delays the project a new date will be posted on the Parking and
Transit Services Web site listed below.
* July 8-12 - Quilt Center (A/C), overlay, lot closed. Additional parking
in the area E Burr Fedde.
* July 8-9 - Law College (A, crack seal/sealcoat, lot closed. Additional
parking in the area C south of McCollum Hall.
* July 9 - Alexander East (Visitor), crack seal.
* July 10-11 - EHS(A/C), sealcoat, lot closed. Additional parking located
on East Campus Loop, 37th and Fair A/C or rock portion of parking lot.
* July 10 - Beadle (A R/C), crack seal, lot closed. Park in the Area C/R
at 19th Street between R and Vine Streets west of the Beadle lot.
* July 12-18 - Burr/Fedde/Activities (E/A/C, overlay, partial closing west
of Activities building and to the north. Park in the area E south at Burr
Fedde.
* July 14 - Stadium Garage (A, crack seal, lot closed. Park in NE Champions
Club lot.
* July 14-15 - 13th and R (Guest Lot, sealcoat, lot closed. Guest parking
located in the Union meter lot.
* July 15 - 501 Building (A) crack seal, lot closed. Park at the Area A
west of the Stadium Drive Garage or the Area A Nebraska Champions Club.
* July 15-16 - 1820 R street (C and Dock), sealcoat, lot closed. Additional
parking located in the area C on 19th Street between R Street and U Street.
* July 16 - Law North (A), crack seal, lot closed. Park in the Area C
south parking lot.

 2. Purchasing With a Grant Number at the UNL Computer and Phone Shop
Some UNL grant numbers do not allow the purchase of computer equipment. If
you plan to buy large items with a grant number at the UNL Computer and Phone
Shop, bring along a requisition that has been approved by your department.
Starting this fiscal year, the UNL Computer and Phone Shop will not be
allowed to sell to departments without a signed requisition. Call them
with any questions at 472-5785.

 3. University Shuttle Bus - Reduced Evening Hours
As a change in its summer transit schedule to reflect reduced passenger
demand and increased fuel costs, Parking and Transit Services is reducing
evening service for the remainder of the summer beginning July 14.
Service on the Perimeter Route will end after 6 p.m. and service on the
19th-23rd Street Route will end after 8 p.m.

 4. Jean M. Klasna Retirement Reception July 9
Join the TRIO program as they celebrate the retirement of Jean Klasna with
a reception from 3:30 to 5 p.m. July 9 in the Colonial Room at the Nebraska
Union. Klasna has been with the University of Nebraska for 23 years, working
as an account technician in the office of TRIO for the past eight. Friends
and colleagues are invited to stop by and wish her a fond farewell.

 5. Better Process Control School in Spanish, Aug. 5-8
The Food Processing Center will offer the Better Process Control School
workshop in Spanish for the first time. This course is required for FDA
certification of supervisors of thermal processing/canning lines.

 6. Quilt Exhibition on City Campus, Opening Talk July 9
Quilt Studies grad student Peggy Derrick will give an opening talk for the
"Visual Elements: the Quilter's Eye" exhibition at 12:15 p.m. July 9 in the
Eisentrager Howard Gallery on City Campus. This exhibition runs July 9-Sept.
25, hours are noon to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Admission is free and the

 7. Souvenir: A Fantasia on the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins
Souvenir by Stephen Temperley opens the 41st season of the Nebraska
Repertory Theatre on July 10. Additional performances are July 11, 12,
19, 27 and Aug. 1, 8 in the Temple Building, 12th and R. What if the
most dedicated singer you ever met was incapable of singing two notes
together in tune? A poignant comedy starring Rita Stinner and Brian

 8. Mongol and The Edge of Heaven open Friday at the Ross
* Mongol (July 11-31)-This Academy Award nominated film recounts the early
life of Genghis Khan who was a slave before going on to conquer half the
world, including Russia in 1206.
* The Edge of Heaven (July 11-17)-Multi-layered and poignant, The Edge of
Heaven delves into German-Turkish relations and age-old generational
divide. Winner of the Best Screenplay in the Cannes Film Festival 2007.
