 2. Hazardous-Regulated Waste Collection-Environ. Health and Safety
EHS needs your help in the collection, management, and proper disposal
of hazardous-regulated waste. The list for everyday office and shop
hazardous-regulated waste includes, but is not limited to: rechargeable
batteries (all types but alkaline); light bulbs (all types but incandescent);
aerosol cans; used oil (all types); and light ballast (all types).
Containers are available for each type of hazardous-regulated waste, which
has its own set of procedures that must be followed. Visit the EHS Web site

Big Red Summer Academic Camps are career exploration camps that give all
youth the chance to explore the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus, meet

 9. Support the Lincoln Food Bank March 3-March 14
In support of National Nutrition Month, members of the Lincoln District
Dietetic Association, Nutrition and Health Promotion Association and UNL
Student Housing encourage students, faculty and staff to donate food to
the Lincoln Food Bank. Barrels will be set up in UNL residence halls,
200 Nebraska Union, 110 Ruth Leverton Hall, 105 Home Economics Building
and 314 East Union.

10. Chinese language classes offered to general public
The Confucius Institute at UNL is offering non-credit Chinese Language
classes, starting March 10. Beginning Chinese I and II (CICL 101 and
102) are designed for the general public including adults, middle school
and high school students, and teach the basics of the language. For

11. March 29 Dinner dance is UNL Scholarship Fundraiser
UNL Faculty Women's Club will sponsor "One Enchanted Evening," a dinner
dance to raise funds for UNL scholarships, on March 29 at the Nebraska
Champions Club. No host cocktails will be served starting at 6 p.m.,
followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and dancing to the Tunafish Jones Band at
8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Tickets are $50 per person ($12.50 tax
deductible). Make checks out to UNL Faculty Women's Club and mail to

12. Olson Seminar to Discuss History of Nebraska Supreme Court
James Hewitt, attorney and adjunct professor of history at Nebraska Wesleyan
University, author of "Slipping Backward: A History of the Nebraska Supreme
Court," will speak from 3:30 to 5 p.m. March 12 at Great Plains Art Museum,
Hewit Place. Hewitt is author of the first book-length study of a Great Plains
state supreme court. The seminar and a 3 p.m. reception are free and open to
the public.

* Honeydripper (March 7-13) - Tyrone (Danny Glover) is the proprietor of the
Honeydripper juke joint. When business at the once-popular club begins to
trail off and Tyrone hires unpredictable electric guitarist Sonny (Gary Clark,
Jr.) against his better judgment, Tyrone's last-ditch bid to draw in crowds
during harvest time has surprising results that neither desperate Tyrone nor
the ambitious Sonny could have ever anticipated. Blues guitarist Keb' Mo'

26. School of Music Events: March 4-10
* March 4 at 7:30 p.m., Concert Choir, Collegiate Chorus, and University
Singers will give a concert in Kimball Recital Hall. The All-Collegiate
Chorus, under the direction of Brian Hart, will perform the Vesperes
Solemnes de confessore by W.A. Mozart with chamber orchestra and student
soloists. The Concert Choir with Dr. Therees Hibbard will present a varied
program ranging from Händel to Moses Hogan. The evening concludes with a
DMA recital given by James Wilson with the University Singers performing
both sacred and secular works by Johannes Brahms.
* March 6 at 7:30 p.m., faculty artist William McMullen, oboe, and Catherine
Herbener, piano, will give a recital in Kimball Recital Hall.
* March 7 at 7:30 p.m., the Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Carolyn
Barber will give a concert in Kimball Recital Hall. The repertoire will include
the world premiere of Eight Untitled Pieces (2006) by UNL faculty artist,
Randall Snyder and featuring faculty artist Rusty White on bass, the Nebraska
premiere of Diaghilev Dances (2002) by Kenneth Hesketh, and the regional
premiere of Kingfishers Catch Fire (2007) by John Mackey.
* March 8 at 7:30 p.m., the Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Tyler
Goodrich White will give a concert in Kimball Recital Hall. It's Student
Soloist Night featuring winners of the 2007-2008 Graduate and Undergraduate
Solo Competitions.
* March 9 at 3 p.m., the Symphonic Band under the direction of Anthony
Falcone will give a concert entitled Explorations of Form in Kimball Recital
Hall. UNL faculty artist John Bailey, piccolo, will join the Symphonic Band
in a performance of The Wren (1879) by Eugène Damare.
Unless otherwise noted tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for
students and seniors and will be available at the door approximately one hour

30. Boys HS Basketball Finals Live on NET Television
A week ago, the best girls' high school basketball teams in the state battled
it out for the state championship titles. On March 8, the boys get their
chance as the championship games in six different classes of the Nebraska
boys' high school basketball tournament are broadcast live from the Bob Devaney
Sports Center on NET1 Channel 12 and for the first time in high-definition on
NET-HD. The championship games begin at 9:30 a.m. with Class C-1, followed by
Class D-1 at 11:30 a.m.; Class B at 1:30 p.m.; Class C-2 at 5 p.m.; Class A at
7 p.m.; and Class D-2 at 9 p.m.
