Parking Lot Closures Due to Maintenance The following list of parking lots will be closed or partially closed on the dates specified for maintenance. Lot closing sgns will be posted at the entrance of the lot 24-48 hours before the scheduled date of maintenance. If weather delays the project a new date will be posted on the Parking and Transit Services Web site listed below. * May 28 - Alexander East, Visitor - Crack Seal. * May 28 - Beadle, South (A R/C) - Crack Seal - Lot Closed. Park in the Area C/R at 19th Street between R and Vine Streets west of the Beadle lot. * May 29 - Food Stores/Land (A), Crack Seal-Partial Closing. UNL Computer and Phone Shop is Open Don't forget that the UNL Computer and Phone Shop is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. all summer for all of your technology needs. Dan Wheeler Retirement Reception June 19 A retirement reception will be held for Dan Wheeler from 3 to 5 p.m. June 19 in the East Campus Union. Wheeler, department head for Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication and former director of OPOD at IANR, is retiring after almost 30 years with UNL. They will tour the newly renovated Johnny Carson Theatre and Film Building, and watch the movie, "Then She Found Me," at the Mary Riepma Ross Theatre. Growing Success: Statewide Community Summit on Depression On June 19, the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center in partnership with NET Television will convene a statewide summit on creating pathways to the successful treatment of depression. Noted talk show personality, humorist, and Nebraska-native Dick Cavett will serve as the event's keynote speaker, and talk about his personal experiences as a depression survivor. The event will start at 9 a.m. CST/8 a.m. MTN and conclude at 1 p.m./noon. The summit is free and open to the public, however, advanced registration is required due to limited space. The event will be held at NET Television Studios in Lincoln, and broadcast live via video conference to satellite locations in Chadron, Grand Island, Omaha, and Scottsbluff. Then She Found Me and Paranoid Park now playing at the Ross * Then She Found Me (May 23-June 5): In Helen Hunt's directorial debut, A New York schoolteacher (Hunt) hits a midlife crisis when, in quick succession, her husband (Matthew Broderick) leaves, her adoptive mother dies and her real one, an eccentric talk show host (Bette Midler), materializes and turns her life upside down as she begins a courtship with the father of one of her students (Colin Firth). * Paranoid Park (May 23-June 5): An unsolved murder at Portland's infamous Paranoid Park brings detectives to a local high school, propelling a young skater into a moral odyssey where he must not only deal with the pain and disconnect of adolescence but the consequences of his own actions. NET Television Special on History of Beef Industry in Nebraska The story of the cattle industry in Nebraska began more than a century ago with the state's clean, plentiful water and vast grasslands perfect for the industry's advancement and success. "Beef State," a co-production of NET Television and the Nebraska State Historical Society, is a new hour-long documentary on the history of the beef industry in Nebraska airing at 6 p.m. June 1, repeating at 8 p.m. June 2 on NET1 Channel 12 and in high-definition on NET-HD.
