Professor Lia Bronsard, McMaster University will speak in the
Mathematics Department Colloquium series at 4 p.m. April 24 in Room 115

Alan Boye, a graduate of UNL and professor of English at Vermont's Lyndon
State College will talk about the fundamentals of building and living in an
off-grid, passive solar, straw bale house at 3:30 p.m. April 23 in 106

Stone sculptor Gail Sundell is serving as the 2009 Elizabeth Rubendall
Artist-In-Residence at the Great Plains Art Museum April 21-26. Visitors
can interact with the artist as she completes the handwork on her alabaster
sculpture Women of the Plains. She is sculpting from 10 a.m. to noon and
2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and from 1:30 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

* April 21 at 7:30 p.m., Jazz Ensemble I and II will give a recital with
guest woodwind artist, Gary Foster, in Kimball Recital Hall.
* April 22 at 7:30 p.m., Honors ChamberFest will feature the 2009 winner
of "Play with the Chiaras" Competition, Lindsay Wiley, oboe. The concert
will take place in Kimball Recital Hall and is free and open to the public.
* April 23 at 7:30 p.m., the Campus Bands will give a recital in Kimball
Recital Hall.
* April 25 at 7:30 p.m., the Symphony Orchestra along with all the UNL
choruses will perform Felix Mendelssohm's "Elijah" in the Lied Center for
Performing Arts. Tickets are now on sale through the Lied Center box office
at 472-4747 or 800-432-3231. Tickets are Adults $20, student/senior $10.
* April 26 at 3 p.m., Big Red Singers and Vocal Jazz Ensembles will give
their spring recital in Kimball Recital Hall.

30. University of Nebraska Hurt Book Sale April 23-24
University of Nebraska students, faculty and staff are invited to attend
the Friends of the Univeristy of Nebraska Press Hurt Book Sale from 5 to
7 p.m. April 23 and from 5 to 8 p.m. on April 24. The sale will take place
at the Press warehouse, located on R street between 8th and 9th streets
in the Lincoln's Haymarket and will offer a variety of UNP titles at
greatly reduced prices - $2 for paperbacks, $4 for hardcovers or fill a
bag for $12. The sale will be open only to UNL faculty, staff and
students with valid ID on Thursday. The sale will be open to the public
