 2. Early Registration for N-Lighten Nebraska UNL Challenge is Friday
Register for the annual N-Lighten Nebraska Team Wellness Program by Jan. 16
in order to meet the early registration deadline. This three-month endeavor
(Feb. 1 to May 1) encourages Nebraskans to develop sustainable healthy
physical activity and eating habits. The unique team format encourages
teammates to work together toward the common goal of living healthier lives.
Nebraskans are encouraged to form teams of up to 10 people. The entry fee
is $17 per person. All UNL employees are encouraged to register for the
program and are eligible for additional incentives, including a membership
to UNL Campus Recreation Centers for the month of February. Follow the link

 4. Volunteers needed for the 2009 Science Bowls
About 200 volunteers to needed to help run the 15th Annual Nebraska Regional
High School Science Bowl on Feb. 7, and the 6th Annual Middle School Science
Bowl on Jan. 31. Both will take place at the Nebraska Union. A record number
of high school and middle school teams will compete in these events for a free
trip to nationals. They need time keepers, rules judges, science judges, score
keepers, and moderators for the competition. More information is available

Nominations are being accepted for the Distinguished Educational Service
Award. This award recognizes outstanding performance by a member of faculty

10. Limited Submission - U.S. Department of Energy
The U.S. Department of Energy has announced a limited submission for
Demonstration of Integrated Biorefinery Operations. The Letter of Intent
deadline (required) is Feb. 20. The application deadline is April 30.
An organization may submit only one proposal as the lead organization.

All Group Fitness and Mind * Body Classes are free until Jan. 18 at the Campus
Rec Center and EC Activities. Each week 70 land, water, or cycling-based
group fitness classes are offered plus 25 mind body classes like yoga and
pilates. This offer is good for all UNL students and current Campus Rec

UNL Campus Recreation is offering the American Red Cross "Learn-to-Swim"

16. Itty Bitty Sports (Sports Development) - UNL Campus Recreation
The Itty Bitty Sports "Sports Development" program will be offered from

18. Marathon Training Class - UNL Campus Rec Center
Be ready to run the Lincoln Marathon or Half-Marathon in May. UNL Campus
Recreation is offering a Marathon Training Class during the spring semester.
Class will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Jan. 20 to April 28.
Class will include opportunities for weekly group runs, plus: weight
training, nutrition, running techniques, form analysis opportunities,
motivation and goal setting, a running shirt, a water bottle, and twice-

33. TIE Experimental Cinema Exposition at the Ross Jan. 14 and 15
Since 2000, the internationally-based TIE festival has been a leading champion
of artists still working in the medium of film, with a particular focus on both
new and historical avant-garde cinema. TIE returns to UNL with two new programs
specifically selected for The Ross by TIE founder/director Christopher May who
will present the programs in person. Both shows include highlights from TIE's
2008 international festivals, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Paonia, Colo.
