E-News entering retirement As the chancellor mentioned in his recent announcement on budget cuts, the E-News will be going away and be replaced by a new electronic newsletter, Today@UNL. Plans are for final E-News submissions to be received and delivered May 11. The new Today@UNL submission site will go live during the week of May 17 and announcements and news submissions for faculty/staff news will then need to be entered on that site. Watch for more information and instructions on this transition in May. ************************************************************************* 2. Faculty Sought for Peer Review of Teaching Project How does one document make visible and assess the careful, difficult, and intentional scholarly work entailed in planning and teaching a course? The UNL Peer Review of Teaching project is seeking faculty to participate in next year's (2010-2011) project where you will learn how to document your teaching and be involved in discussions of student learning and assessment. Each participant receives a $1,000 stipend. Limited Submission - NSF Physics Frontiers Centers Limited Submission - NSF Physics Frontiers Centers. Application Deadline: 8/11/10 (Preliminary Proposal), 1/25/11 (Full Proposal). Annual Steam Outage Starts May 9 The centralized steam distribution system must be shut down to conduct required maintenance of equipment, including replacing and upgrading many key components of the university's utility system. The outages will occur on the following dates depending upon an average weekly high temperature of 60 degrees or more: *City Campus only from May 9-May 15 *East Campus only from May 16-May 22 During the steam outages there will be no heating and no process steam available in those building systems served by campus steam. Parking Permit Preorder 2010-2011 Faculty and staff may preorder parking permits on-line for next fall. Have your NU ID number, found on your NCard, to order your permit. You will also need current information for vehicles you plan to have on-campus next year. To renew online go to the website below and click the "Parking Permits" button. Over-the-counter renewals begin July 1; go to 625 Stadium Drive, Suite A. Online preorders made before Aug. 1 will be mailed to faculty and staff offices. Please keep the permit in a safe place and do not display until Aug. 16, 2010. Parking and Traffic Congestion May 5 - 8 Students will be moving out of residence halls May 5 - 8. Most movement will be on Thursday and Friday. Watch for closed lanes and traffic control around residence halls. Plan for extra travel time. Gaughan Center Room Reservations Room reservations for fall semester use of the Gaughan Multicultural Center will be accepted beginning on August 23. UHC Pharmacy Relocation May 13 - Aug. 9 The UHC Pharmacy will be remodeling its space this summer and will relocate to the lower level of the UHC, room 15, beginning May 13 through August 9, 2010. The UHC Pharmacy will close at noon on Thursday, May 13 to accommodate the move, reopening at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 14.
