 1. Summer 2010 Construction Budget Requests
Despite the snow and weather, FMP is planning summer construction and
renovation projects. If you anticipate the need for a construction or
renovation project this summer, visit the Web site listed below and let
them know. Projects greater than $500,000 will also have to be approved by
SAT in accordance with the Capital Project Planning procedures available
at http://irp.unl.edu/campus-planning. In general, renovation projects for
the summer must be received by FMP prior to March 15, 2010 to be assured
completion prior to the start of Fall Semester. Some projects may still
require extensive planning and construction; an FMP representative will
discuss the likely project scope, budget, and schedule with each
requestor.

 2. UNL Surplus Auction will be held on Feb. 20
There will be no open house at Inventory on Feb. 17 due to preparation for

 3. Wireless Computer Network Upgrade in Canfield Feb. 24
The wireless computer network in the Canfield Administration building will
be upgraded on Feb. 24. Wireless users will experience minimal downtime as
Information Services replaces the access points one at a time. The upgrade
will remove the existing 802.11AG access points and replace them with
newer 802.11AGN access points. If you have any questions contact Michael

 4. Travel Survey
The U-wide Travel Committee recently conducted a survey of travelers to
assess opportunities for improvement in the University's travel management
program. The results of this survey, intended to measure both traveler and
travel arranger needs, are located at the Travel Services Web site below
under News and Updates. Areas of traveler concern have been addressed with
the University's contract travel provider, Travel and Transport, and terms
of the recent T&T contract renewal include a completely new T&T on-line
booking tool available later this Spring. Questions concerning the survey

 5. Gain International Experience as a Peer Mentor
Tell your students about unpaid internships as a Peer Mentor with the
Office of International Affairs. They can gain valuable experience for

 6. Limited Submission - Nanotechnology Undergrad Education in Engineering
The application deadline for limited submission NSF-Nanotechnology
Undergraduate Education (NUE) in Engineering is May 7. Only one (1)
proposal may be submitted by a US academic institution, college/department
of engineering or college/department of engineering technology as the lead
institution with the following exception: A US academic institution may
submit a second proposal as the lead institution, only if it is focused on
the societal, ethical, economic and/or environmental issues relevant to
nanotechnology. If you are interested in developing a proposal, complete a
Notification of Intent to Submit no later than March 1. For more

 7. Body Composition Testing Feb. 17 and 18
Learn your personal percentage of lean muscle and body fat at the Body
Composition Testing from 3 to 4 p.m. Feb 17 and Feb. 18 in the Strength
and Conditioning Room of the UNL Campus Rec Center. The cost is $3 for UNL
students and CREC members; $9 for non-members/general public. A 3-pinch

 8. Adult C.P.R and AED Class March 3
An American Red Cross adult CPR and AED training will be held from 5:30 to
8 p.m. March 3 at the UNL Campus Rec Center. Successful completion of the

Priority registration is now open for Husker Kids and Husker Adventures
Summer Camps for UNL faculty, staff, and students. These recreational day

UNOPA is accepting nominations for the Rose Frolik Award through March 5.
The Rose Frolik Award recognizes a UNOPA member who demonstrates the

The Tern and Plover Conservation Partnership will celebrate its 10th
anniversary with a reception starting at 6 p.m., following the annual
Nebraska Tern and Plover meeting, Feb. 23, in Hardin Hall, at 33rd and

The "NSAA State High School Wrestling Championships" is one of Nebraska's
most popular high school sporting events and once again NET Television
viewers will be able to watch the annual event live from Omaha's Qwest
Center when it is broadcast statewide at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 20 on NET1 Cable
12, over-the-air 12.1 and in high definition on NET-HD. The four-hour
coverage of the wrestling tournament will feature a special quad-split
television broadcast that enables viewers to see simultaneous coverage of
matches in all four high school classes in the various weight divisions.

The state's finest high school bowlers take to the lanes to see which
schools will capture the title of "best in the state" when the "Nebraska
High School Bowling Championships" air Feb. 21 on NET1 Cable 12,
over-the-air 12.1 and NET-HD. Teams from all across the state compete in
Class A, B, C and D action taped at Lincoln's Sun Valley Lanes on Feb. 14.
The state's finest high school girl bowlers compete beginning at 8 a.m.,
with the state's best boy bowlers hit the lanes beginning at noon.
