Summer 2010 Construction Budget Requests Despite the snow and weather, FMP is planning summer construction and renovation projects. If you anticipate the need for a construction or renovation project this summer, visit the Web site listed below and let them know. Projects greater than $500,000 will also have to be approved by SAT in accordance with the Capital Project Planning procedures available at http://irp.unl.edu/campus-planning. In general, renovation projects for the summer must be received by FMP prior to March 15, 2010 to be assured completion prior to the start of Fall Semester. UNL Surplus Auction will be held on Feb. 20 There will be no open house at Inventory on Feb. 17 due to preparation for the auction on Feb. 20. Wireless Computer Network Upgrade in Canfield Feb. 24 The wireless computer network in the Canfield Administration building will be upgraded on Feb. 24. Wireless users will experience minimal downtime as Information Services replaces the access points one at a time. The upgrade will remove the existing 802.11AG access points and replace them with newer 802.11AGN access points. Travel Survey The U-wide Travel Committee recently conducted a survey of travelers to assess opportunities for improvement in the University's travel management program. The results of this survey, intended to measure both traveler and travel arranger needs, are located at the Travel Services Web site below under News and Updates. Areas of traveler concern have been addressed with the University's contract travel provider, Travel and Transport, and terms of the recent T&T contract renewal include a completely new T&T on-line booking tool available later this Spring. Limited Submission - Nanotechnology Undergrad Education in Engineering The application deadline for limited submission NSF-Nanotechnology Undergraduate Education (NUE) in Engineering is May 7. Only one (1) proposal may be submitted by a US academic institution, college/department of engineering or college/department of engineering technology as the lead institution with the following exception: A US academic institution may submit a second proposal as the lead institution, only if it is focused on the societal, ethical, economic and/or environmental issues relevant to nanotechnology. If you are interested in developing a proposal, complete a Notification of Intent to Submit no later than March 1. High School Wrestling Championships on NET Television The "NSAA State High School Wrestling Championships" is one of Nebraska's most popular high school sporting events and once again NET Television viewers will be able to watch the annual event live from Omaha's Qwest Center when it is broadcast statewide at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 20 on NET1 Cable 12, over-the-air 12.1 and in high definition on NET-HD. The four-hour coverage of the wrestling tournament will feature a special quad-split television broadcast that enables viewers to see simultaneous coverage of matches in all four high school classes in the various weight divisions. ************************************************************************* 49. High School Bowling Championships on NET Television The state's finest high school bowlers take to the lanes to see which schools will capture the title of "best in the state" when the "Nebraska High School Bowling Championships" air Feb. 21 on NET1 Cable 12, over-the-air 12.1 and NET-HD. Teams from all across the state compete in Class A, B, C and D action taped at Lincoln's Sun Valley Lanes on Feb. 14. The state's finest high school girl bowlers compete beginning at 8 a.m., with the state's best boy bowlers hit the lanes beginning at noon. ************************************************************************* 50.
