Great Plains Art Museum Hosts First Friday Reception Feb. 5 The Great Plains Art Museum's First Friday Reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 5 and feature Searching for the Real Nebraska: A Photo Essay on the Great Recession - Part 2. The exhibit, by Bruce Thorson, Kyle Bruggeman and Clay Lomneth, documents the effects of the recession across the state through photographs, video and slideshows. Real Nebraskans share their stories of resilience and struggle during the hard economic times. Sheldon director of education Sharon Janovy, curator of the "The Horse Show," will talk about the artworks during the opening reception. "The Horse Show" focuses on the subject of horses as art from times as ancient as cave paintings to modern interpretations.
