Library downtime Jan. 7 At 10 a.m. Jan. 7 the library catalog (http://library.unl.edu) will be down for about one hour to load a software update. You will be able to search catalog records using Encore (http://encore.unl.edu). In addition to the catalog server being down, databases will be inaccessible through the proxy server for that hour. You will also be unable to access your library record through My Library. All libraries will be open during the downtime and you will still be able to check materials out. ************************************************************************* 3. NSF IGERT Competition - Limited Submission The deadline for the NSF-Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship Program is March 29 (preliminary proposal), Sept. 30 (full proposal, by invitation only). There is a limit of four preliminary proposals that may be submitted by an institution either as a single institution or as a lead institution in a multi-institution preliminary proposal. There is a two step process in order to be considered for selection. First, interested faculty must submit an on-line Notice of Intent to Submit form by Jan. 25. Then, interested faculty need to submit a UNL pre-proposal by Feb. 1. The pre-proposal template may be found at the Web site below. David Craven Lectures on Mexican Muralists at Sheldon David Craven, professor of art history at the University of New Mexico, will give a lecture titled "The Mexican Revolution and the Mural Movement on the 100th Anniversary," at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at Sheldon Museum of Art. Great Plains Art Museum to host "Searching for the Real Nebraska" The Great Plains Art Museum at UNL will present Part 2, "Searching for the Real Nebraska: A Photo Essay on the Great Recession," Jan. 5 through Feb. 28. Four photojournalists traveled across the state in a camping trailer last summer, keeping a Web log of their experiences along the way. They met with Nebraskans in every scale of town, every stage of life, and every degree of intimacy with current economic conditions.
