 2. Wireless Computer Network Building Upgrades, March 9-12
The wireless computer network will be upgraded in the following buildings:
Alexander, March 9; Ross / Van Brunt, March 10; Kauffman, March 11;
Ferguson, March 12. Wireless users will experience minimal downtime as
Information Services replaces the access points one at a time. The upgrade
will remove the existing 802.11AG access points and replace them with
newer 802.11AGN access points. If you have any questions contact Michael

Limited Submission - NSF Climate Change Education (CCE): Climate Change

11. Kid's Night Out at the UNL Campus Rec Center
Kid's Night Out for youth age 6-9 years will be offered from 5:30 to 10
p.m. March 12 at the Campus Rec Center. Kids will participate in crafts,

16. NU Tech Day is March 17
Registration is open for NU Tech Day on March 17. University of Nebraska staff,
faculty and administrators from all NU campuses are invited to attend the 2010
NU Tech Day March 17 at the Nebraska Union on the UNL campus. Richard Katz, vice
president of Educause, will be the luncheon keynote speaker. Katz's talk will
provide context for the importance of cloud computing to universities. The theme

will conduct and guest faculty artists, The University of Nebraska Brass
Quintet will join the Symphonic Band. Faculty artist, Dr. William Shomos
will narrate. This event is free and open to the public.
* March 7 at 3 p.m., the Wind Ensemble will give a recital in Kimball
Recital Hall. Dr. Carolyn Barber will conduct the Wind Ensemble. The
repertoire will include works by William Schumann, Gustav Holst, Berthold
Hummel, and feature the Nebraska Premiere of Jonathan Newman's Symphony
No. 1 "My Hands Are A City."
* March 8 is Flute Day, all day in Kimball Recital Hall. Dr. John Bailey
hosts flute day and welcomes guest artist and clinician George Pope,
professor of Flute at University of Akron. At 7:30 p.m. the Flute Day

Historian and legal scholar Annette Gordon-Reed will give a lecture based
on her acclaimed book, The Hemingses of Monticello: An American Family,
which explores the intimate relationship between Thomas Jefferson and his
slave, Sally Hemings. The lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. March 4 in the
Sheldon Museum of Art's Ethel S. Abbott auditorium.

Join Women Make Movies executive director Debra Zimmerman for a discussion
about women in the film industry at 3 p.m. March 7 at the Ross Media Arts

York that supports women filmmakers. During Zimmerman's tenure, films from

village in the north of Germany during the years just before World War I

"Skylark Meets Meadowlark," at 7 p.m. March 3 in the University Bookstore.

writers and poets have incorporated birds into their writings. Gannon is

American Women Artists" artist Kim Dingle will discuss her work in the
Ethel S. Abbott Auditorium. This lecture is free and open to the public.
* March 4, 7:30 p.m., Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Annette
Gordon-Reed, author of "The Hemingses of Monticello" will speak in the
Ethel S. Abbott Auditorium. Reed's lecture, "Writing the History of an
Enslaved Family: Monticello in the American Imagination" will discuss the
relationship between Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings as well as the
history of their descendants. This lecture is free to the public with a
book signing to follow.
* March 5, 4 p.m., Reception and keynote speech for 2010 No Limits Women's
and Gender Studies Conference in connection with the exhibition "Shrew'd:
The Smart & Sassy Survey of American Women Artists." Speaker Professor

The best girls' basketball teams in Nebraska invade Lincoln to battle it
out for the state championships in six different classes with the finals
telecast live from the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln on March 6, on

"NSAA Girls State High School Basketball Tournament" will begin at 9:30
