 1. UHC Announces Seasonal Flu Shot Clinics
Walk-in flu shot clinics for the seasonal flu will be held at the
University Health Center (UHC) and the East Campus Union beginning Oct. 2.
Flu vaccinations are $20 and payment by cash or check is required at the
time of vaccination. For those with Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, a
claim will be filed by UHC staff for possible reimbursement, however, you
will still need to pay at the time of injection. Don't forget to bring
your BCBS ID number. No appointment is necessary for the walk-in clinics;
seasonal flu vaccinations are also available by appointment at the UHC by
calling 472-5000. The seasonal flu shot clinic schedule can be found at

 2. Firefly ID Conversion
On Sept. 26/27 your current Firefly Login ID will change to your eight
digit NU ID number. Your eight digit NU ID number is located on your red N
card in the white box. This change will only affect your Firefly Login ID.

 4. New Global Gateway Program
To create more opportunities within the UNL curriculum for students to
engage the world, the Chancellor has announced the UNL Global Gateway
Program. Global Gateway is a new initiative, funded by the NU Foundation,
designed to promote and enhance global competency among students and
faculty at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The deadline for faculty

 5. Honorary Degrees - Call for Nominations
The Honorary Degree Committee is seeking nominations for honorary degrees
to be awarded during the 2010-2011 academic year. It is their intention to
include among their honorary degree recipients individuals who are not
only highly accomplished but also nationally visible, such that honor will
be brought to UNL as well as to the recipients. This includes both
nationally and internationally renowned persons with a tie to UNL and/or

 7. Yoga Kids, Sept. 23 to Oct. 21
UNL Campus Recreation is hosting Yoga Kids on Wednesdays, from Sept. 23 to
Oct. 21, 4:15 to 5 p.m. at the East Campus Activities Building. Open to
children ages 6-14 years. Yoga Kids teaches traditional yoga techniques
and poses in fun and simple ways to promote strong, limber bodies and
creative expression. Price for the five-week session is $30 per child for

The final Academic Planning Committee hearing date for proposed budget

* Opening Friday: Manhattan Short Film Festival (Sept. 18-24) - Film
Lovers in Lincoln, Neb., will get a chance to unite with audiences in over

next generation of filmmakers during the 12th Annual Manhattan Short Film
Festival. The festival includes 10 short films, all of which are shown at

Time to take advantage of the State Museum's free Thursday night fulldome
shows at Mueller Planetarium is running out. Tickets will be free for the
7 p.m. presentations of "Black Holes" on Sept. 17 and 24 with regular
museum admission after 4:30 p.m. UNL staff, faculty and students are
