Benjamin Vogt has a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and an M.F.A. from The Ohio State University, and he is the author of the poetry collection Afterimage (SFA Press). Benjamin owns Monarch Gardens, a native plant garden consulting firm, and is on the board of Wachiska Audubon Society. He blogs about prairie at The Deep Middle. He presents regionally on gardening with prairie plants, and has appeared on local radio and television. He's also contributed to the book Lawn Gone: Low-Maintenance, Sustainable, Attractive Alternatives For Your Yard.

His Pushcart Prize nominated poetry and creative nonfiction has appeared in Crab Orchard Review, Creative Nonfiction, Diagram, ISLE, Orion, Sou'wester, Subtropics, The Sun, and Verse Daily. Benjamin writes a central Plains gardening column for Houzz.com, contributes to the blog Native Plants and Wildlife Gardens, and his 1,500 prairie garden has been featured in Fine Gardening, Apartment Therapy, Lincoln Journal Star, and Omaha World Herald
