Andrews Hall Classroom Technology

In Summer 2015, Andrews Hall updated its classroom technology by replacing the oversized classroom carts with a simple HDMI connection. This means that instructors must bring their own device in order to use the projector in class. For details and instructions on using this technology, click the link below.

Equipment Reservations

Every classroom in Andrews Hall comes equipped with an HDMI cable and a miniDisplay adaptor to help you connect your device’s display and sound to the projector. The department has a variety of additional equipment available for classroom use, including laptops (for daily use only), document cameras, cables, and adaptors. Please submit equipment requests at least 48 hours in advance.

Digital Signage in Andrews Hall

The main floor of Andrews Hall is now equipped with two sets of screens that serve as digital signage for the Department of English. The screens are used to promote programs, events, publications, awards, and news from the department's students, staff, faculty, organizations, and affiliated interdisciplinary programs.

To create images for our digital signage, please use one of the templates below and carefully adhere to posted guidelines. Templates are already the correct dimensions, and the finished document can be exported to .png, .jpg or .pdf.

PowerPoint Template Photoshop Template Blank Image Template

  • Allowed filetypes: .jpg, .mp4, .mov, .png, .pdf, .pptx*, .psd*
  • Dimensions: 1920 pixels wide by 839 pixels high
  • Minimum font size: 14 pt
  • University-approved colors (recommended, but not required)
  • University-approved icons, graphics, and patterns (not required and not for the faint of heart)

The Department Chair (Marco Abel) and the IT and Media Specialist (Erin Chambers) retain editorial control over images submitted for the department's digital signage. Images violating UNL policy will not be considered. Images that are pixelated, stretched, or unreadable will require redesign in most cases.

*Unusual or non-embedded fonts in .pptx and .psd files are subject to alteration, as the media specialist may not have them installed. To avoid losing fonts and formatting, export finished documents to .pdf, .png or .jpg.

Faculty Feature Series

We feature faculty on our digital signage on a rotating basis. To help us get a head start, send us the information you'd like to have included when you are featured. You can expect a notification a few weeks in advance of your feature, and at that time you will be able to update any previous submissions.
