Each fall, Publishers Weekly presents a list entitled 'The Big Indie Books of Fall' - "small press titles with huge potential." Among the 35 books chosen this fall (article behind paywall) is How Winter Began: Stories by Joy Castro, Professor of English and Ethnic Studies. This work of short fiction is Castro's latest, and is slated for release on October 1st, 2015. Sandra Cisneros, author of The House on Mango Street, praised the book and its author, saying “Joy Castro’s writing is like watching an Acapulco cliff diver. It takes my breath away every time."
