Three to four times a semester, students and faculty share writing at the Composition Colloquium, a writer's group that has been ongoing for over 15 years. Writers receive feedback on texts at any stage in the drafting process. Historically, the kinds of texts writers share included conference papers or proposals in development, dissertation chapters, essays-in-progress, book chapters, etc.
A group of graduate students and faculty recently started this reading group dedicated to reading short but rich excerpts from longer bodies of work by thinkers, theorists and researchers whose work has been foundational in the field of composition and rhetoric. The group has recently shared readings by such thinkers as Dewey, Gramscii, Burke, and Freire.
