Search Process Seminars

University faculty and staff members (including Graduate Assistants and Teaching Assistants) serving on a search committee are required to attend an educational seminar covering legal issues and university policies and procedures prior to the first meeting of the search committee. Although not mandatory, students and community members serving on a search committee are encouraged to attend these educational seminars.

EADP offers two types of search process seminars:

The Orientation Seminar is a 90 minute session and covers the basics. Completing Orientation will result in your three year certification to serve on a search committee.  If this is your first time on a search committee, you are required to attend this seminar. However, if you would like to take this seminar again you are welcome to sign up for the Orientation Seminar.

The Update Seminar is a 60 minute session for search committee members who have not attended a search seminar within the last three years. This seminar covers changes in the law and topics that will provide committee members with the necessary tools to deal with current search issues. Completing the Update Seminar will renew your certification for a new three year term.  This seminar is not open to those who have never attended the Orientation Seminar.

Registration for Orientation and Update Seminars can be completed at training.unl.edu. Log in using the same ID and password you use for your computer, Blackboard or email.  You will see a link to sign up for a class.  The search seminars are listed under the Human Resources and EAD link. When you click on the Search Process Seminars link all of the scheduled Orientation Seminars followed by the Update Seminars will be listed.  From there you can sign up for a seminar.  There are other ways to view all the available seminars so explore the options on the site.

Please note:  seminars are not offered in July and August.
