Search Process Seminars
University faculty and staff members (including Graduate Assistants and Teaching Assistants) serving on a search committee are required to attend an educational seminar covering legal issues and university policies and procedures prior to the first meeting of the search committee. Although not mandatory, students and community members serving on a search committee are encouraged to attend these educational seminars.
EADP offers two types of search process seminars:
The Update Seminar (offered as an on demand eLearning course in Adobe Connect) is a self-paced course (approximately 20-30 minutes) for search committee members who have not attended a search seminar within the last three years. This seminar covers changes in the law and topics that will provide committee members with the necessary tools to deal with current search issues. Completing the Update Seminar will renew your certification for a new three-year term. This seminar is not open to those who have never attended the Orientation Seminar.
Registration can be completed at training.unl.edu. Add the seminar to your cart and click Checkout. Sign in using your My.UNL/Blackboard ID and password. Complete the check-out process by clicking Submit. Shortly after completing the check-out process, you will receive a confirmation email. This will be followed by a second email that includes a link to the course in Adobe Connect. You will need to login to Adobe Connect using your My.UNL/Blackboard ID and password. Please note: When you complete this course, you will not immediately receive a confirmation, however our office does. Equity, Access & Diversity will periodically post this information in your transcript at training.unl.edu. For accommodation assistance, please call EADP at (402) 472-3417.
The Orientation Seminar is a 90-minute session that covers the basics. Completing Orientation will result in your three-year certification to serve on a search committee. If this is your first time on a search committee, you are required to attend this seminar. However, if you would like to take this seminar again, you are welcome to sign up for the Orientation Seminar. We reserve the right to cancel a seminar due to low enrollment. For accommodation assistance, please call EADP at (402) 472-3417 two weeks prior to the seminar. Please note: seminars are not offered in July and August.
