Search Process Seminars
University faculty and staff members (including Graduate Assistants and Teaching Assistants) serving on a search committee are required to attend an educational seminar covering legal issues and university policies and procedures prior to the first meeting of the search committee. Although not mandatory, students and community members serving on a search committee are encouraged to attend these educational seminars.
EADP offers two types of search process seminars:
The Orientation Seminar is a 90 minute session and covers the basics. Completing Orientation will result in your certification to serve on a search committee. Due to recent changes in the law, if this is your first time on a search committee or if you last attended a search seminar prior to January 1, 2007, you are required to attend this seminar. (If you last attended a seminar after January1, 2007, but would like to take this seminar again you are welcome to sign up for this Orientation Seminar.)
The Update Seminar is a 60 minute session for search committee members who have not attended a search seminar within the last three years. This seminar covers changes in the law and topics that will provide committee members with the necessary tools to deal with current search issues. Completing the Update Seminar will renew your certification for a new three year term.
