Waiver Requests

Equity, Access and Diversity Programs

A regular search is required for all positions. If there are unusual circumstances that have an adverse impact on a search, a waiver may be appropriate. All waiver requests must be on the requesting department's letterhead, be signed by the hiring authority and be accompanied by an approved position requisition. EADP cannot accept email requests. A response will be sent via fax, so please include the fax number to be used.

If circumstances require the entire search process to be waived, a request must include the following within the body of the letter:

  1. The position title and classification (faculty/administrative or managerial/professional)
  2. The name of the person the department wished to place in the position
  3. Certification that this person is qualified for the position according to Human Resources or Academic Affairs
  4. A detailed rationale for the waiver request

If only part of the search procedure needs to be waived, a request must include the following within the body of the letter:

  1. The position title and classification (faculty/administrative or managerial/professional)
  2. Which part of the process is being requested for a waiver
  3. A detailed rationale for the waiver request
