Catherine Meier, of Orchard, Nebraska, is a 2005 UNL graduate with a degree in Art and Art History. Meier will attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she will pursue a masters degree in studio art, with hopes to create films, paint and teach art. While an undergraduate at UNL, Meier undertook the task of creating a short film about methamphetamine addiction using charcoal drawing animation. Her film was awarded many honors, including best concept for a short film and audience choice at the 2005 Omaha Film Festival, and was featured at the Arizona State University art museum. The Jacob Javits Fellowship provides $42,000 per year for four years of graduate study in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
