Department of Art and Art History
Allison Holdsworth

Allison Holdsworth

Hello everyone! My name is Allison Holdsworth and I am from Omaha, NE. This coming academic year I will be a senior and plan to graduate with my Bachelor of Fine Arts in May 2012. At the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, every student that comes here has the chance to succeed. The resources that are available to students are endless and opportunities for both academic and professional growth abound. I personally knew that I wanted to study fine arts at UNL due to the broad range of studio classes that are offered, and the knowledgeable professors who not just teach, but also actively practice fine arts themselves. Although this coming year is my last, I still intend to fully participate in everything the College has to offer, and I am excited for the vast amount of knowledge that I still have yet to gain!
Abigail Rice

Abigail Rice

Hi there! My name is Abigail Rice and I am a junior pursuing a degree in studio art. Although I am originally from Lincoln, I am always amazed at how UNL provides me with my own world to grow in. The Department of Art and Art History has truly been a worthwhile experience that helps me in my course work, and offers countless opportunities I never thought possible as an undergraduate art student. I have been encouraged to explore and use all my talents and interests, and by networking with an amazing set of faculty and advisors. I am involved in programs like the Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experiences program (UCARE), and the Student Ambassador program! Thanks to UNL, I get excited when I envision my future and have high hopes for what lies ahead.

Hi! I am a graduate of Blue Hill High School in south central Nebraska. I grew up on a ranch and came to Lincoln to experience something different from what I was used to. I am currently a sophomore and I am majoring in Studio Art with an emphasis in graphic design. I am also a part of the William H. Thomson Learning Community and was on the Dean's List my second semester at UNL. Since moving to Lincoln, I have had many new experiences, and I love everything the University has to offer its students. Everyone can find what he or she is looking for at UNL, whether from a big city or a small town, an art student or a pre-vet major. I look forward to graduating and getting a job doing what I love.
Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film
Matt Baye

Matthew Baye

Hi! My name is Matthew Baye and I am a senior Technical Production major in the Johnny Carson School of Theater and Film. I specialize in lighting, but have found that I also enjoy dabbling in scenic design, props, carpentry, grip work for film and sometimes even acting. I'm originally from Kearney, Neb., but I've found a home away from home here in Lincoln and I thoroughly enjoy being a Husker (Go Big Red!). Most recently I've been involved with the student run production group Theatrix and designing lights for the New Artists Festival. This year I will be completing my capstone project, which is a lighting design for the Main Stage show "Lady Windermere's Fan." It will be a busy final year, but I'm up for the challenge. I look forward to meeting and getting to know new prospective students!
Carl Erickson

Carl Erickson

Hello! My name is Carl Erickson, and I am a sophomore Film and New Media student. I am a graduate of Westside High School in Omaha, Nebraska. I came to the University of Nebraska because I heard about the awesome Film and New Media program and I wanted to get involved in everything this program has to offer. Little did I know I was going to have the time of my life while learning about what I love. I get to take classes in theatre and design in preparation for film making, and I get to meet new people and make awesome new friends. I am involved in Cinema 16 (the film club), volunteer to work on shows and film sets, and just hang out. I hope you enjoy the University as much as I do. I know you will not regret your decision to attend UNL.

Hello wonderful people and welcome! I am a senior Theatre-Performance and Theatre-Directing Management major at the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. I am from Ralston, Nebraska, but now call Lincoln home (and love it!). My favorite shows done at UNL in 2010-2011 include Dylan, Murder By Poe, and Twelfth Night. I was awarded the Irene Ryan nomination for my role as Maria in Twelfth Night, and will get to compete in a regional acting competition in Spring 2012. I can't wait to meet all of you and introduce you to the amazing staff and students that await you here at UNL!
School of Music
Janny Joo

Janny Joo

Hi! My name is Janny (Yeojin) Joo, and I am a Senior Violin Performance major and History and Math minor from Seattle, Washington. I love being here because there is so much support in the School of Music to grow and excel! The faculty are amazing, collaborations with other departments are frequent, and well- known artists give master classes. The School of Music provides performance opportunities for a variety of people including peers, faculty, and even the Chancellor of the University. I have varying interests, as my minors suggest, and UNL has been completely accommodating in that regard. Not only am I getting a fabulous education through the Honors Program, and my involvement in the program for Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experiences (UCARE), but I am also able to grow as a well-rounded individual through my involvement in different campus activities. I have loved my years here at UNL, and am excited to see how the School of Music will grow in the future.

Hi! I am a Music Performance major studying piano with Dr. Paul Barnes, and I absolutely love being here. I chose to come to UNL because I love the feel of the campus and especially the School of Music. Everyone is committed to being the best students and musicians they can be, and it’s inspiring to be part of that kind of focused community. The professors motivate and challenge us to new levels of artistry and expression every day, and I have had an amazing experience so far. Plus, the performance opportunities are endless. Come see what the School of Music can offer you!
Jaimie Pruden

Jaimie Pruden

My name is Jaimie Pruden and I am a junior vocal music performance major from Tucson, Arizona. I came to UNL primarily for the affordability and excellence of the School of Music, but I've discovered that the University has so much more to offer young artists. From classes to extracurricular productions and ensembles, the training and education I have received here thus far will certainly be invaluable to me in my professional artistic pursuits. As a student hoping to pursue musical theatre, I have relished opportunities to be heavily involved in music and theatre during my first two years of school. Being a student of the arts at UNL is a rewarding and enriching experience that I feel blessed to be a part of!
Teaya Smith

Teaya Smith

Hello! My name is Teaya Smith and I am a senior from Omaha, Nebraska majoring in dance. I enjoy being around students who enjoy the same thing I do, and I love how we can come together and make beautiful dance pieces about anything. Being able to express my interpretation of what dance means to me, and share that with students and those who come to our performances, is such an honor. Being a professional dancer is what I want to pursue in life and if it wasn't for the UNL dance program, I don't know where else I would go. We are like a big family; the love, care and relationships from the professors would not be the same if I went to another college, and I am so grateful. Being in the presence of famous dance guest artists who come to Lincoln is the cherry on top of my dance experience, and I love it. I am excited for finishing off my last year at UNL and because of the dance program, I feel confident where my passion will take me later in the future.
