Student Ambassadors

The Hixson-Lied College of Fine Arts Ambassadors Program utilizes outstanding undergraduate students to promote pride and develop awareness of the HLCFPA and its programs and activities. Ambassadors assist with public relations at Red Letter Days, Big Red Road Shows, and audition days. They also give tours of their educational department to prospective students interested in attending UNL and majoring in fine and performing arts.

Ashley Conataser

Hi, I'm Ashley Conataser, and I'm originally from Dallas, Texas. I came to UNL because of the wonderful facilities in the Fine and Performing Arts College and the close-knit programs it offers. It seems to have the intimacy that's really rare, especially in larger schools. I went to an International Baccalaureate high school and was especially looking for a collegiate program that would see me as an individual rather than another number. This is my second year in the Art and Art History Department and I've loved it!

David von Kampen

My name is David, and I'm a junior music composition major from Seward, Nebraska. UNL has been a perfect fit for me--I can do a lot of different things here. This year, I'm involved in Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Band, and I play the organ at the University Lutheran Chapel on Sundays. Someday, I hope to have a career where I can utilize the composition and arranging experiences I've had at UNL.

Molly McConkey

As a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, my final days on campus will be bittersweet; I am ready to move on but will be sad to leave behind my life at UNL. My name is Molly McConkey, and I'm originally from Alliance, Nebraska. I chose UNL because I wanted a large, diverse school that had a wide array of opportunities, along with great arts programs. As a double major in Dance and Sociology, I have been involved in Phi Sigma Pi Honors Fraternity, Orchesis Dance Club, and Study Abroad. I spent my junior year in London, England studying at a world-renowned contemporary dance school and hope that everyone has the opportunity to study abroad at some point. It's an amazing experience!

Brooke Stevens

My name is Brooke Stevens; I am from Omaha, Nebraska, and I am a senior technical theatre major with an emphasis in lighting and sound. I have worked on over 20 shows with The Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film and in the Lincoln community in the last 3 years. Last year, I was a student mentor in the trial run of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts STARTS (Students in the Arts) program. I am a dual matriculate, with a second major from the College of Arts & Sciences in English, with an emphasis on women's studies, and am in the University Honors Program. This summer, I worked as the Master Electrician for the Nebraska Repertory Theatre.

Laura Sedivy

Hi, my name is Laura Sedivy and I am a senior dance major from Papillion, Nebraska. Throughout my life I've lived all over the country and I am glad to call the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, my home. I love performing and choreographing with my fellow students, as well as the faculty, and everyday is always a new adventure. The UNL School of Music and the Dance program have allowed me to grow artistically and personally every year. I have enjoyed being involved in various state-wide performances and our own student-run Orchesis Club for dancers.

Rebecca Reineke

My name is Rebecca Reineke and I am from Wolbach, Nebraska. I am beginning my final year as a Art major in painting and drawing. During my years at UNL, I have been presented with many opportunities such as studying abroad in Europe, participating in the UCARE program, and exhibiting with colleagues in juried exhibitions. I have been inspired and guided by my professors in the Art and Art History Department in ways that will affect my future, both as an artist and as a person.
