HIXSON-LIED COLLEGE OF FINE AND PREFORMING ARTS RELEASES DVD
Lincoln, Neb.--The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts has just produced a new DVD to be used for recruiting prospective students.

The entire DVD was created and produced by faculty and students from all three departments in the College.
"We are an arts college. We have musicians, designers and filmmakers here. Why not use all the talent of Hixson-Lied to present ourselves to the world?" said Assistant Professor of Film and New Media Rick Endacott. "That is exactly what this DVD does. It is the story of the College of Fine and Performing Arts created by artists."
The DVD includes a 12-minute movie, which provides an introduction to what it is like to be a student in the College. The DVD also includes special "bonus material" for each department and the College. For example, in the Department of Art and Art History section, there is a slide show of student art work and a slide show of images from Eisentrager-Howard Gallery exhibitions. In the Department of Theatre Arts section, there are clips from University Theatre productions and a student film. In the School of Music section, there is a music video featuring a cello solo by BM senior Anne Patterson and a video montage of scenes from the School of Music. All three areas have additional interview footage of students and faculty.
In the College section, there is information about the Hixson-Lied Endowment, as well as information on each of the College's affiliated units, including the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center, Lied Center for Performing Arts, Lentz Center for Asian Culture, Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery and Sculpture Garden, and Nebraska Repertory Theatre.
"I think that when parents and students take a look at this DVD, their first response will be Hey, a DVD from UNL. Cool,'" Endacott said. "But once they get a look at it, all the content, then the response may be, Holy Cow! they did this whole thing themselves. Very cool.'"
Endacott, Teo and their students shot more than 20 hours of footage to produce the new DVD, including nine hours of interviews with 18 faculty, students and alumni. The DVD will be updated and new content added in future years.
"DVD is the latest media technology," said Assistant Professor of Film and New Media Sharon Teo. "Nowadays, most people either have a DVD player in their computer or at home, so it just makes sense to introduce the College using the same technology we are teaching our students."
The College's three departments will be distributing the DVD to prospective students this year, and it will soon be available on the College's website at http://www.unl.edu/finearts.
The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts was established in 1993 and includes the Department of Art and Art History, the Department of Theatre Arts and the School of Music.
