The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts

Formed in 1993 to bring strength and focus to the arts on campus, the College of Fine and Performing Arts was renamed the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts in January 2000 in honor of its greatest supporters, Christina Hixson and the Lied Foundation Trust. Their support to the College and its affiliated units exceeds $34 million.

The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts offers undergraduate and graduate programs taught by a distinguished faculty of artists, performers and educators. The college is comprised of the Department of Art and Art History, the School of Music, and the Department of Theatre Arts, and the Mary Riepma Ross Film Theater. Independent programs that have an affiliation with the College include the Lentz Center for Asian Culture, the Lied Center for Performing Arts, and the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery and Sculpture Garden.

The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts serves the entire state and region as an important artistic and cultural resource through its exhibitions, performances and educational outreach programs.
