Donor Appreciation Lunch September 29, 2006 The Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts held its third annual Donor Appreciation Lunch on Friday, September 29, 2006, at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. Around 100 faculty, students and donors attended the lunch. The lunch gives students and faculty in the College the opportunity to meet and thank our generous donors who have provided them with support. More than 100 donors to the College were recognized at the luncheon, which was held in the Lied Center for Performing Arts Orchestra Lobby. Professor Emeritus of Art Dan Howard gave the keynote address. Howard came to UNL in 1974 to become Chairman of the Department of Art and Art History. He went back to teaching full time after 10 years and stayed until his retirement in 1996. Dan and his wife, Barbara, together with UNL Professor Emeritus of Art Jim Eisentrager, who died in 2002, and his wife, Dorene, have funded the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. Dan and Barbara Howard also recently made a generous gift to the University of Nebraska Foundation to create the Howard Creative Achievement Award, which immediately became the most prestigious award in the Department of Art and Art History. |
