AIR DATE SET FOR SCHOOL OF MUSIC GRADUATE STUDENT'S APPEARANCE ON EMERIL LIVE TV SHOW

Lincoln, Neb.-University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Music graduate student Jacob Thomas' appearance on the Emeril Live TV show will air on Sunday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. CST on the Food Network (Ch. 58 on Time Warner Cable in Lincoln). It will be shown again at 2 a.m. CST on Feb. 12.

Thomas will also perform his master's recital at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11 in Westbrook Recital Hall (Room 119). The performance is free and open to the public.

Thomas' recipe for "Jake's Explosive Double Chocolate Chip Turtle Cheesecake" won a national chocolate recipe contest through the Emeril Live TV show on the Food Network.

As the winner of the contest, Thomas went to New York City on Nov. 6 to meet famed chef Emeril Lagasse and watch him make his now-famous cheesecake recipe.

"It was a great honor to have him make my cheesecake," Thomas said.

An Emeril TV show crew was on campus in October to film Thomas in the kitchen and performing on his saxophone with the Jazz Ensemble in Westbrook Music Building. Jeffrey Richmond, a D.M.A. student, composed a special piece, "Blues for Emeril," for the ensemble to play during the taping.

The listed airdate is according to Food Network sources. More information and updates for this episode are available at http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show_em/episode/0,1976,FOOD_9959_48692,00.html.
