Lincoln, Neb. - LUX Center for the Arts presents, Winterfest, Friday, December 4 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This family friendly First Friday event is a collaboration between the LUX Center and UNL’s Art in the Community class. Hands-on holiday card making and cookies and cider will be available. Hand-made ornaments, made by UNL students, will be for sale. Proceeds from the ornaments will help fund the LUX Center’s youth scholarship program.

Gifts from the Heart continues through December 23 with more than fifty locally, regionally, and nationally known artists showing pottery, paintings, photographs, framed prints, jewelry, textiles, or wood work.  All art is for sale in the LUX Center gallery and are available to take home the same day as purchased.

LUX Center for the Arts is free and open to the public. Hours: Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  First Friday of each month, 11a.m. to 7 p.m.  Free parking is available on the west side of the building located in historic University Place at 2601 N. 48th Street.

The mission of LUX Center for the Arts is to enhance the lives of a diverse public through the visual arts by providing exceptional learning opportunities in contemporary art, craft, and design. These opportunities, honoring the legacy of arts educator Gladys M. Lux, include art classes, residence programs, gallery exhibitions, and community outreach.
