The 1983 movie tells the story of Ralphie and his struggle to convince his parents, his teacher, and even Santa that a Red Ryder BB Gun really is the perfect gift for Christmas. Set in Hammond, Indiana in the early 1940s, the film showcases the semi-dysfunctional Parker family and along the way, reminds us what it is like to be a kid.

Inspired by the semi-fictional accounts of author Jean Shephard, the movie was directed by Bob Clark. Although originally met with little fanfare, the film has become a perennial Christmas classic, often being shown in televised 24-hour marathons leading up to Christmas.
