Lincoln, Neb. — Graduate and undergraduate students in accredited academic institutions may submit books for “Heart & Hands 2013,” the fourth national juried book art exhibition for students.
Books made in book arts, graphic design, photography, printmaking and writing courses will be featured in the exhibition. Books completed between Jan. 1, 2011, and March 1, 2013, are eligible.
Selected books will be on display in an exhibition at UNL’s Love Library April 8-May 31, 2013, and UNO’s Criss Library from Oct. 11-Nov. 14, 2013. Winning books will display quality craftsmanship and design, as well as compelling visual and/or literary content. Accepted entries must be available for sale.
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln and University of Nebraska at Omaha Libraries will purchase selected award-winning books from the exhibit for their special collections.
This year’s juror is Barbara Tetenbaum, an artist working in printed books and installation. She founded her imprint, Triangular Press, in 1979, and this work can be found in many private and public collections in the U.S. and abroad. She is the recipient of two Fulbright Lecture awards to teach in Germany and the Czech Republic. Her other honors include a Koopman Distinguished Chair at the Hartford Art School in 2012 and a Sally Bishop Fellowship at the Book Arts in New York City in 2011. She received her Bachelor of Science in fine art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Master of Fine Arts in printmaking from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
