Student Advisory Boards

Elizabeth Baquet
Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film

Hello, my name is Elizabeth Baquet and I am a sophomore Film and New Media Production student in the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. I’ve had a lot of opportunities to get involved with filmmaking, including helping with student films, participating in film festivals and helping with the school film “Vipers in the Grass” this past summer. I also work for Huskervision who handles all of the media and film productions for Husker Athletics. My time at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has been a great experience and all my fellow students have become good friends and taught me so much. I’m excited to be a member of the Student Advisory Board this year and can’t wait to meet more great people.

Michael Emmerich
School of Music

I am a senior at the School of Music pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance. Exploring my vastly underrated instrument awakened in me a love of learning, which has substantially shaped my life throughout my five-or-so years here. I believe that education goes beyond career preparation and rejoice that the Hixson-Lied College is home to a fine community of artists who have both talent and fundamental dedication to their craft. Accordingly, I look forward to serving on our college Student Advisory Board. Outside my applied studies, I participate in UNL Chamber Singers and play for various churches in town. I am a member of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity. In my woefully scarce free time I enjoy reading all sorts of things (even JSTOR!), acting as family historian, eating meals way too slowly with friends, and traveling to any place that will take me!

Katie Gell
Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film

I am a senior theatre performance major in the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. Besides performing in University shows, I enjoy making wigs and designing hair and makeup. This past summer I had an internship with the Central City Opera in Colorado. I was making wigs and doing makeup design. It was one of the best summers I’ve ever had and one of the most educational. My time here at UNL has gone by so fast, I can’t believe I’m graduating in May. Even though I’m terrified to become an adult, with the tools the University has given me and my internship over the summer, I feel very prepared.

Harrison Hohnholt
Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film

My name is Harrison Hohnholt, I am a junior theatre tech/design major with an emphasis in lighting design at the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film. I am very glad to be on the student advisory board. I have always taken an interest in how the college can help the students even more and this is a great way for me to help.

Audrey Koch
Department of Art and Art History

Audrey Koch is a sophomore going for a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art—though she is unsure what emphasis she wants therein. She loves sequential art and illustration, and what she wants to do with her life pertains to these interests: her heart is set on becoming a graphic novelist, dabbling in the comic book industry, and illustrating children’s books. Very simply, she wants her art to tell stories because along with being an artist at heart, she is a storyteller.

Emily Martinez
Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film

Hi, my name is Emily Martinez and I am a sophomore at the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film with a double major in Theatre Performance and Theatre Management. I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska, but I have fallen in love with Lincoln and all it has to offer! My freshman year I was involved in four shows (one of which I got a taste of stage combat!), and I also acted in the first Carson School Film Project, "Vipers in the Grass." The students and professors I have met here at UNL have pushed me to learn and grow more than I truly thought possible. I feel at home here and I promise if you give it a chance, we will welcome you with open arms!

Ben Reimer
School of Music

Hi, my name is Ben Reimer and I am a Junior Music Education student in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. At the moment, my career track is to graduate with a Bachelor of Music Education degree and to go on further into graduate studies in the field of Music Theory or Music History. Music was not my first choice in college (I was an Actuarial Science Major my Freshman year) but music is what I’ve grown to embrace and chose to study and work with. I enjoy performing and I am proud to be a part of both operas this year. I’ve learned so much from all of my professors and, moreover, their guidance has helped me not only through my academic life but also my life outside of school as well. I look forward to working on the Student Advisory Board to help others and contribute back to a University that’s given me so much.

Kathleen Rohrig
Art and Art History

My name is Kathleen Rohrig, and I am a third-year Art Major. When choosing to come to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I had a few concerns with what my choice of study all entailed. Art is such a broad and wonderful major! My expectations were quickly fulfilled and exceeded. With the knowledgeable staff and interesting projects, I realized I had made the perfect choice in UNL as the place to pursue my career as a Graphic Designer. The last two years have flown by. And if asked to put all I have learned into writing, the pure amount is impeccable. I used to call Friend, Nebraska, home. Now Lincoln and its wonderful University have welcomed me into their close-knit community, and I have to admit it’s pretty cozy here.

Mikah Tacha
Art and Art History

Mikah is a junior working on her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with minors in Art History and Communication Studies. She is especially interested in a career in graphic design. Currently she is a student docent at the Sheldon Museum of Art, working on a UCARE project assisting with book design at the University of Nebraska Press, and working for the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture as a multimedia design assistant. One of her favorite experiences so far has been a three-week study tour in Greece. She traveled with UNL students to learn about the art history and archeology in Athens, Crete, Delphi, and other sites.

Corinne Wardian
Art and Art History

I am a junior Art History and International Studies major with a minor in Human Rights and Diversity. I not only love learning about art and artists, but I love to create art at the same time. My favorite medium is watercolor and acrylic paint. This is my second year serving on the Student Advisory Board, and last year I also served as the Fine and Performing Arts Senator with ASUN. I enjoy serving my fellow students and University. The University is a melting pot of opportunities waiting for us to take and it’s up to us to make the most of our experience. So far I feel that I have.
