THEATRIX TO KICK OFF SPRING SEMESTER WITH INAUGURAL NEW ARTISTS FESTIVAL

LINCOLN (February 6th, 2008)—Theatrix, the student producing theatre organization under the auspices of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film (JCSTF), is very proud to showcase some of Lincolns most exciting young playwrights, directors and actors in their very first NEW ARTISTS FESTIVAL

The NEW ARTISTS FESTIVAL is a fully produced celebration of five 10 Minute plays and two One Acts that will run in repertory with each other over a four day period in February. Each play is written and directed by a student at the University of Nebraska—Lincoln and features over thirty different student actors. The evening of 10 Minute plays will feature five very eclectic productions including absurd, dramatic and physical forms of theatre.

The NEW ARTISTS FESTVIAL evening of One Act plays will feature two very special plays. The first is Malus, a dark look at mysterious Shakespearean characters caught in Perdition featuring Alex Jeffery (Sophomore, Performance Major), Sean Kloc (Junior, Performance Major) and Eric S. Smith (Sophomore, Performance Major). The second One Act is the Arts Are Basic-commissioned, student written original, Sweet Dreams, a children's tale that follows Jo (Sarah Carlson- Sophomore, Performance Major) as she travels inside her dreams and nightmares finding strength through friends and family to conquer her personal fears.

The NEW ARTISTS FESTIVAL will open February 21st, 2008 at the Lab Theatre, 3rd floor of the Temple Building, 12th and R Street Lincoln, Nebraska.

New Artists Festival Passes (Good for one evening of 10 Minute Plays & one evening of One Acts) are $10 for adults, $7 for Students with valid school ID and are available at www.unl.edu/theatrix
