This fall, Graduate Studies implemented a new initiative designed to support prospective and current graduate students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln: The UNL Graduate Student Ambassadors Program. This exciting new program brings together a diverse cadre of experienced graduate students who support graduate student recruitment and Graduate Studies outreach activities, such as the New Student Welcome, the Campuswide TA Workshops, and the Graduate Student Research Fair, to name just a few. In addition (and depending on availability), Graduate Ambassadors will travel to national graduate fairs with a Graduate Studies staff member and assist with prospective student campus visits, sharing what graduate student life is like at UNL and in Lincoln. They also write regularly for the Ambassador blog, (Check out some of the initial posts about being a happier graduate student, the places you’ll go in graduate school, and US holidays) as well as tweet and post to the Graduate Studies Facebook page. They also provide tours of campus and their respective departments to students interested in attending UNL.

As friendly faces for visitors and current students, Ambassadors serve as a bridge between graduate students and the Office of Graduate Studies. Get to know our Ambassadors and be sure to say hello when you see them on campus or at a Graduate Studies event.

2013-14 Graduate Ambassadors: Christy Burger, Adrian Lara, Jenny Beth Johnson, Dave Stamps, Derrick White, Grace Troupe, Derek Schardt, Jess Tate, and Jie Cheng.
