The Office of Graduate Studies is hosting two Recruitment Roundtables for Fall 2012, each focusing on a topic designed to help you achieve your recruitment objectives. Graduate chairs and graduate staff are invited to attend. Hear from other graduate programs about what works for them, gather some practical tools you can implement immediately, and learn more about how Graduate Studies can support your recruitment efforts.

Questions?

If you have questions regarding the Roundtables or GAMES Sessions, contact Justina Clark, Director of Graduate Recruitment.

We also encourage you to contact Justina if you're a new graduate chair or staff member and would like to schedule an introduction to the recruitment services Graduate Studies can provide.

Fall 2012 Roundtables

Evaluating Your Application Deadline

Thurs., Sept. 20, 9:00-10:00 AM, Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center

You might be surprised to learn that your application deadline can have a significant impact on your applicant pool and yield. If your application deadline is too early or late, you may lose excellent prospective students simply because of timing. At this Recruitment Roundtable, we will review your application deadline(s) and compare your application timeline with that of your competitors. Yield your top candidates by keeping your application deadline consistent with other programs and by reviewing applications and offering admission in a timely fashion.

REUs and Summer Research Programs as Recruitment Tools

Tues., Oct. 9, 9:00-10:00 AM, Nebraska Union

Cyndi Freeman, Director of Graduate Student Recruitment and Diversity Initiatives at The Ohio State University, will present this roundtable on using an REU or summer research program to introduce and recruit quality students to your graduate program. Justina Clark, Director of Graduate Recruitment at UNL, also will explain the role of the Office of Graduate Studies in the Nebraska Summer Research Program and discuss how your department can participate in Summer 2013 or beyond.

We'll also host a bi-monthly session dedicated to GAMES, the Graduate Admissions Management and Evaluation System. We'll share any announcements and updates and then dedicate the remaining time for users to ask questions and to learn from one another. Please join us! No registration is necessary.
