This fall the Office of Graduate Studies is hosting a series of specialized recruitment workshops in an effort to meet the specific recruitment needs of individual programs. Graduate Chairs and graduate staff are invited to attend any workshop that is relevant to their recruiting goals.
Recruiting 101
Websites. Social Networking. Talisma. Brochures. Graduate Fairs. Campus Visits. The myriad of recruiting concerns and lingo can be overwhelming. Where do you choose to put your resources?
This workshop has the answers. It's designed for new graduate chairs or for those who haven't been chair for the past few years and for any new graduate staff wanting to learn more about recruiting graduate students in the new millennium. We'll cover the basics, discuss successful strategies, and share details on the resources available for graduate recruitment through the Office of Graduate Studies.
Increasing Applications
This workshop will focus on specific strategies designed to increase your applicant pool, including good web site design, identifying pipelines, cultivating faculty relationships, target marketing to inquiries, and developing comprehensive communication plans.
Enrolling Top Students
This workshop is for programs with a strong applicant pool that would like to focus on enrolling their top students. We'll look at successful strategies for communicating with applicants and the importance of the timing and tone of communication, effective campus visits, welcoming students to the department, and orientation programs.
