Introduction
The 18th Annual Fall Campuswide Workshops for Graduate Teaching Assistants, sponsored by the Office of Graduate Studies, are scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, 2008 in the Nebraska Union. The program will feature a variety of concurrent sessions, topical interest groups and a lunch buffet, compliments of the Office of Graduate Studies.
Keynote
This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Jim Eison, a professor in the Department of Adult, Career and Higher Education at the University of South Florida.

Jim Eison is a psychologist who made teaching, learning and faculty development in higher education the focus of his professional career.
Jim received his BA in Psychology from SUNY New Paltz and his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He served as the founding director of Southeast Missouri State University's Center for Teaching and Learning and, in 1990, joined the University of South Florida, serving as the founding director of the Center for Teaching Enhancement. He joined the Department of Adult, Career and Higher Education full-time in January 2003.
Jim currently teaches a seminar in college teaching and a course in cognitive issues in instruction and coordinates the Certificate in College Teaching Program for the department. His scholarly writing has largely focused upon topics related to instructional strategies and techniques; student characteristics that influence learning; assessing, testing, and grading; and faculty development. Jim has served as the President-Elect, President, and Past-President of the Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education (POD Network).
To date, he has also been invited to conduct faculty development workshops on over 100 campuses in the United States, as well as for colleges and universities in Canada, Kuwait, and New Zealand.
