With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

Evaluating Teaching and Learning

Evaluating student learning takes time and effort, yet well-designed tests and consistent grading procedures can provide students valuable information about what and how they are learning. Effective feedback to students also can help them improve performance and develop cognitive skills. This section offers suggestions for constructing tests and exams that measure and reinforce student learning. It also describes and discusses methods for developing clear and fair grading practices, using rubrics as tools for assessment and feedback, and strategies for assessing the effectiveness of your classroom teaching practices.
