ARTICLE I, Academic Policy for Continued Recognition
SECTION 1 - Academic Standard
A. A fraternity shall maintain a cumulative GPA above the all-male GPA with both being measured in the same semester.
SECTION 2 - Failure to meet the academic standard shall result in the following:
A. First Semester - The first semester a chapter's cumulative GPA falls below the academic standard:
- Chapter officers and a chapter advisor will meet with the Secretary of the IFC Executive Committee and the Director of Greek Affairs to present their academic and recruitment policies for review.
B. Second Semester – The second consecutive semester a chapter’s cumulative GPA falls below the academic standard:
- Chapter officers and chapter advisor will return to meet with the IFC Executive Secretary and the Director of Greek Affairs for further review of their academic and recruitment polices and programs.
- A letter will be sent to the chapter’s National or International Fraternity Headquarters and Alumni Board indicating the chapter’s inability to meet the academic standard for two (2) consecutive semesters. The letter will be sent by the Director of Greek Affairs and will request that the chapter be ineligible for national scholastic awards. One more consecutive semester below the all-male GPA will result in loss of IFC recognition.
C. Third Semester - The third consecutive semester a chapter's cumulative GPA falls below the academic standard:
- Chapter will lose IFC recognition and become a Recognized Student Organization.
