Service activities are a way for members of the Greek Community to give back to the University, the Lincoln community, and national philanthropic efforts. As a member of a Greek organization you will have the opportunity, through structured community service programs, to make a difference in the lives of those in need. Each year, students from Nebraska's Greek Community raise money and awareness for several different local and national agencies.
During the 2006-2007 academic year, over $125,000 and 32,000 volunteer hours benefited local projects. In addition, all sororities and most fraternities on campus have teamed up with a local elementary school to serve as mentors and positive role models in the community.
The Big Event is the largest one-day of community service. Where students paint, cleanup the zoo and serve meals, among many other jobs.
Also, this year at the Big Red Road Show, Greek members representing many chapters from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln collaborated to show their support for United States soldiers serving overseas by making them care packages.
