At a university as large as UNL, the Greek Community will provide you with a valuable network of support not found in other living units. The Greek Community helps foster a degree of friendship that will grow during your college experience and last a lifetime.
Sisterhood is bringing together a large, diverse group of young women in daily living, scholastics, athletics, social functions and community service. From the moment you join, you will begin to experience what sisterhood is all about.
The Greek Community's foremost focus is academic achievement. The University proudly recognizes that the all sorority GPA is consistently above the all-women's GPA.
All UNL Female GPA: 3.185

Sororities on campus will keep your social calendar active. Chapters sponsor formal events and also theme parties such as "Hicks and Chicks" or "Disco Fever" where members dress in costumes to fit the themes.
Sororities also have "froshes" with the freshman class of campus fraternities. Froshes are freshmen social activities where members get together for putt-putt golfing, ice cream socials or roller skating to help foster inter-house relations.
Homecoming and Greek Week also help broaden your horizons as an incoming Greek. Chapters form triads for various events and activities such as float construction and the canned food sculpture contest.

Sororities have a long and prosperous history on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus. All 15 sororities at UNL are nationally recognized chapters and many bring home merit awards from their national conventions in the areas of leadership, philanthropy and communication. Lincoln is also home to many Alums of the Greek Community. Many professors and members of the University staff are also alums of the Nebraska Greek Community.
Sorority membership must be expensive given the benefits, right? Wrong- UNL sororities are considerably cheaper than living in the university dormitory units.
Average cost of living in a UNL sorority: $6, 118
Average cost of living in UNL dorm: $9,137
UNL sororities provide a greater experience at a better value than university housing.
Sorority life will provide you with a variety of leadership opportunities and ways to stay active. You can participate in sorority governance as a chapter officer or by serving on one of the committees each chapter maintains. Additional opportunities exist for becoming involved on campus through the Panhellenic Council or various Greek letter honor societies. In addition, there are more than 350 student organizations at UNL, many with sorority women actively involved as members and officers. Sororities encourage these leadership experiences and you will find them to be an integral part of a well-rounded education.
The Right Frame of Mind
It is unique when students from diverse backgrounds can find common ground to work together through membership. Whether in the classroom, intramural athletics, house projects, or university competitions, members are always willing to help each other reach a common goal. Chapter diversity allows every member to be herself, and it gives every member a chance to learn from someone a little different from themselves.
